the heck happened to APEX, the electronics maker

last i read over a yr a go, it was started by two guys in CA and made the company into a multi million dollar company, helped drive down the price of DVD drives that at one time was a source of high profit margins for many of the more established electronic firms.

thanks to apex, we the consumers saved some money whether we bought an apex dvd drive or not.

one of the founders flew into China for something, perhaps a business meeting but then he was held captive.

Is the company defunct or not sending products to the US market anymore?

I bought an Apex DVD player from them. Lasted a few years. Not bad for a $100 CAD player.
