Singer Huey Lewis has cancelled all of his shows with his band The News for the rest of 2018 after revealing that he has lost most of his hearing.

It is fantastic! I highly recommend the book, though. Fair warning: both are a scathing indictment of Reagan and the Reagan years.

anyhoo: good luck to Huey Lewis, though I think most people in his position these days are wise to the necessity of good ear plugs. ...also, deafness is one of those things that is on its way out, which is kinda cool.

The deafness is apparently due to an illness. In 1984 I saw someone pay good money to a scalper because his girlfriend really wanted to see them. If he's still good looking he could get work as a male model.

I hope he has enough money to live like a king the rest of his life, but it must be killing him as an artist to not be able to practice his art. Reminds me of when I heard Phil Collins couldn't play drums anymore.

Yeah if I had to pick I'd pick deafness for sure, but either one would be really terrible.

I'm thankful that I have good (now that I got LASIK) vision AND good hearing.
