i'm confused... can anyone here help me to choose the best proc and mobo between p4 2.4 + SINXP1394 or XP2600+A7n8X deluxe ?

cos my budget is low, is it okay if use the Apacer (infineon) pc2700 cl 2.5. corsair xms was too expensive... 🙁

btw, i'll use my comp for web design and i'll going to buy 15" lcd. maybe samsung 151N or flatron 1510s?

thanks, guys!

Your budget cant be that low if you are going to spend extra bucks on a LCD monitor 😕

Why not save bucks and get a CRT and spend the extra cash on a better comp?

Dan 🙂

Is overclocking out of the question? If it isn't I'd recommend picking up a 2100+ and OC it to 2+GHz (check the CPU/Overclock forum, there's some good threads on 2100+ OC), using the $150 you save on the proc. and pick ONE stick of corsair XMS 512MB DDR400. You can pick up a second when RAM prices go down. 1GB of RAM isn't really necessary today, but in a year or so it may be. Also, dual channel isn't going to show you that big a performance increase to justify buying 2 sticks of 256MB, then scrapping them to get 2 sticks of 512MB a year down the road.

If you don't plan on the OC, just pick up whichever combo you can find that is cheaper. They should perform about the same.

One more thing, try not to get bogged down in the Intel vs AMD debate. They are very comparable processors, there may be a difference between the two, but it probably won't be much more than 5% either way, surely not enough to even notice. The only case I'd strongly recommend one or the other is AMD for overclocking.

That said, for web design and NO OC, I think an Intel rig may be a better solution.

if you're in my position, which one will you choose?

Honestly, I would go with first: whichever mobo had better options. If they are very similar in feature-set, go with whichever solution you can get for the least amount of money and don't look back. I guarantee you'll be happy either way.
