Did Lilly intentionally kill her son at the end?
I don't think she did, but I think an argument could be made the other way. First, Lilly was really tough for a woman, and in the same scene she had already demonstrated how desperate she was for her son's money. Second, she placed the glass of water in Roy's hand; she more or less insisted that he take it - maybe she was setting him up for the kill? When she hit him with the briefcase, it was almost like she waited for the perfect moment when he would be holding the glass in just the right position.
I realize that it was a million to one shot, but it seemed kind of planned, and it fit right in with her character.
