Trump has built a $102 million dollar war chest—most of that money coming after January 6–and he’s not even a candidate for office. The conventional thinking is that he’ll use this money to fund pro-Trump, batshit GQP candidates in 2022–keeping the party beholden to him for fundraising. But I’m of the mind that more than 50% of this will be used to cover legal fees or other expenses for the benefit of Trump’s family and business interests.
AFAIK, the only rules governing spending for super PACs apply to direct contributions to candidates. But they can make unlimited “indirect” expenditures independent of any candidate or party…like paying Ivanka consulting fees for “messaging strategy” or Trump properties fees for the use of their facilities. The rules governing PACs allow this because expenditures are reported and a PAC that’s hoarding money shouldn’t be able to hoodwink their donors too long. But Trump’s Save America isn’t just a PAC—it’s a cult! They can’t help themselves when it comes to funding Trump!

Edit: Sure enough, he hasn’t spent a penny on a single candidate or any of the “audits” that were supposed to prove he won.

Donald Trump builds war chest of $102 million entering 2nd half of 2021
New disclosure reports filed Saturday night show that Donald Trump's affiliated political committees have a total of $102 million in cash on hand going into July.
Edit: Sure enough, he hasn’t spent a penny on a single candidate or any of the “audits” that were supposed to prove he won.
Trump raised millions but spent none of it on audits and GOP candidates
The one outside group the former president supported during the first half of 2021 was his own.
