Maybe the best monologue in film history.

Nice, but I have to go with this one below.

Knowing full well his likely fate, the Reverend Doctor Martin Luther King stood tall and accepted his fate with dignity, so that African Americans might finally taste some semblance of equality:

“Like anybody, I would like to live a long life. Longevity has its place. But I’m not concerned about that now. I just want to do God’s will. And He’s allowed me to go up to the mountain. And I’ve looked over. And I’ve seen the Promised Land. I may not get there with you. But I want you to know tonight, that we, as a people, will get to the promised land!

And so I'm happy, tonight.

I'm not worried about anything.

I'm not fearing any man!

Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord!!"

The very next day he was assassinated.

THIS was one true profile in courage, one of the finest of all times.

And that is all.

It was a good speech, unfortunately it was wrong. Greed did not die. We did not embrace love. Democracy is in more danger today then it was even during the darkest days of WWII. Science and progress did not lead to happiness, it did not bring us together but is pushing us apart. Hate is as strong today as it ever was. Despair still rules and we still raise up dictators that promise to punish those different from us. In two weeks it will have been 78 years since he made that speech and we are more machine now then we were when he first said it.

That is a pessimistic view of things.

In some places, things are stagnant, or getting worse, but, globally, the human condition has been improving at amazing speed.

I disagree and it's not because I'm racist, it's because his speech is targeted to a public that isn't global but national while Charlies speech is globally targeted.

If we listen to MLK not much will happen except perhaps a bit in our nation. If we go by Charlies concept, we can achieve world peace and liberty for ALL men globally.

In some places, things are stagnant, or getting worse, but, globally, the human condition has been improving at amazing speed.

Globally it is getting worse, Turkey has a dictator now after having been a free nation, Russia is now in essence a dictatorship and our nation is torn apart by foreign propaganda.

Take a look at Africa, things are getting worse, not better. Take a look at Europe with the likes of Orban, things are getting worse and not better and do I really have to fucking mention Trump?

We're moving towards isolationalism and empire statuses among groupings, the US/Russia and the EU are now enemies. We are at the very brink of what can be tolerated and the next step is in the hands of a fucking retard.

But do not despair, this too shall pass and perhaps one day we can understand that the illegal immigrant is our fellow man, that their children are not a burden but a promise of a better future. That we are in this together and only through the empathy innate in ALL of us who are not mentally inept we will conquer the evanglicals, the "righteous", the greedy and those who would try to make it not so.

And I just watched a show on PBS Frontline about religion in the Soviet Union.
How over in Russia, they are beating and killing gays in the streets all in the name of religion.
How Americans from our religious communities over here, are now over there in Russia taking notes. And encouraging the violence, in the name of religion.
Because over there, THEY CAN GET AWAY WITH THIS.

Beating gays and transgender is sport over there, supported by the government, by the courts, and by the police.
And yes, our religious leaders over here are taking note of what is happening over there, with hopes of spreading government sponsored hate in the name of religion from over there back to over here.
Naturally, all in THE NAME OF GOD.

Is it any wonder religion is catching on OVER THERE, while on the decline OVER HERE?
Praise be.
Now, go kill in the name of god.
Sometimes, I think our only hope for reset back to reality in the world is full and all out nuclear war.
And the survivor(s) will hopefully emerge "normal" again.
If there ever was an "normal" or an "again".

It's a sport over here too.

We're just following dear leader and his merry band of haters ideas just like the Russians are following the ideas of their leaders.

The problem is that liberty for ALL is no longer a thing in the US and we are falling for the worst arguments made in history to bring us to a point of no return.

The world has a shiton of problems. Some things are getting worse, some things are getting better.
Overall, more people have a better quality of life than ever before, we are using different metrics I think.
