I live in Plumsteadville, Pa, minutes north of Doyelstown, Bucks County, Pa. Doylestown is now, reasonably hip and progressive, but was still more of a farmer/cow town when I moved up here. Still, if I turn left out of my driveway and head north on my little strip of street, the Trump signs outnumber the Biden signs something like 9 - 2. And, as a general rule, the more north you go, the more Trumpy it gets.

I have a friend in Allentown, about 50 minutes north of me. The country around Allentown is dead nuts gorgeous, but she can't stand the numbnuts around her, having come there from Montclair, NJ.

Anyway, went up to visit her and play yesterday. Took a couple of pics on the way. As jokersmoker used to say, "Text, enjoy!" :p

As someone who was just up in the country around Allentown yesterday (visiting my mom, where I grew up) I can say, much to my dismay, it is indeed deeply Trump country.

What does this have to do with Canada at all? Or Americans are trying to pretend to be Canadian even when they are in the US? But only 10% if Canadians are stupid enough to be willing to vote for Trumpity Dumpity

Urban VS Rural. Basic division by class, which evolves into division by political party - and lately a complete division of realities by concepts of facts, truth, right and wrong. The absolute breaking of America that once was. A common underlying purpose replaced with a common hatred.

Not sure this fracture can be repaired, but hopefully this election proves we can step around it. Problem is if the election is at all contested.... if people begin to refuse the Democratic process, we then lose all pretense of civil discourse along with it. And America only exists by consent of the governed. As the Chinese would say - we live in interesting times.

I have no proof, but our friend spotted a standard T/P sign that had been cleverly modded with tape to read "I Pump Penis"
Sounds like a worthwhile project.

When people have to make giant signs like that to proclaim things very loudly to other strangers, it's an indication that they are pant-shitting terrified about their own idiocy and illiteracy, and are merely projecting their hatred and failed ideology on everyone else.

If "The worst Republican was better than the Best Democrat" were in any way true, no one would have to make a sign claiming it. It would be observably true.

...I don't get the second one, what is with a stripper chained to a pole wearing a MAGA bikini? Again, it's claiming something about Biden that is observably untrue with literally no evidence in existence that could back it up. This is what this individual feels about themselves, so must project their own ludeness onto others, because the self hate is so debilitating.

All rural areas are. That's what happens to the human brain when it isn't exposed to different types of people.

Trump tapped into a vast reservoir of resentment these people were hiding and they now feel free to dump it publicly. Every single Trump cult member I know shares the belief that they didn’t get where they wanted to go in life because of ____________. Fill in the blank with the government and whatever group(s) you choose. This includes the 75-year-old white guy who was hot shit in high school in 1955, but is now just another aging old fucking geezer struggling to get by on social security, the 23-yo who failed at college, ending his dream of being a scientist, and the unskilled couple in their 50s who had family jobs paying big bucks in their 20s, but are still earning the same at 50. Trump really does represent them if you look at Trumps own record of failures and not taking responsibility for his failing. Trump gave them permission to blame it on someone else, and the end result of this is he lanced a boil of hatred.

I feel bad for your friend from Montclair. I grew up not far from Montclair. To have to move from that mindset to regressive Trump country douchebags, how depressing.

I live in Minnesota and the polls here show the same thing. Urban areas are strongly for Biden, while the outstate areas are 2:1 or more for Trump. Ironically, the Dems actually have more plans to aid the elderly and dis-enfranchised than the Republicans. (health care, affordable education, protect social security, etc) They just cant get the message across, and/or the Republicans have effectively convinced the outstate voters the Democrats want to raise taxes and kill the economy. Part of the problem in Minnesota though is that Trump has campaigned to bring mining back to the iron range in northern Minnesota (environment and worker's health be damned), much like he promised to bring jobs back to the rust belt in 2016.

I live in a very blue area. In 2016, there were few Hillary signs, and I was surprised by the surge in Trump signs and street corner rallies in the weeks before election day. Same thing is happening this year. Not many Biden signs. The Trump signs have gotten bigger, as have the street corner rallies.

I'm in California. My sister's whole neighborhood has Trump yard signs, banners and bumper stickers. She's like the lone Biden / Harris supporter on the block. So, she goes and puts a Biden Harris banner up on her fence and the next day someone had thrown piles of dog shit in her drive way next to the banner. We live in a time far different from when I grew up, where my neighbors, both republican and democrat, posted their signs and everyone just respected each other and got along. Now days a lot of people take an active role in destroying things they don't like or agree with.

40 years of "liberals want to make it illegal to celebrate Christmas" will do that to a society.

I did a search on youtube awhile ago with the query "man on the street interview with a Trump supporter" just to see what reasons were given in support of Trump.

I haven't laughed so much while shaking my head side to side at the incredible answers that were given. Jordan Klepper's were so revealing.

So with that in mind, those Trump/Repub supporter signs I viewed in this thread? It's like it came from the exact same source, the very same mind as those I saw on those youtube interviews. It's like all these folks got their pea-fer-brains programmed from one app with one message looping itself over and over again telling them that there was another world outside of the one they were sheltered in and it was closing in on them and the only person who could save them was god's gift to them in the form of one Donald Trump.

Trump's base is literally the definition of low information voter.

If someone came out of a coma after 20 years and we sent them to the polls to vote right away they'd be about the same informed as the average Trump voter

Actually a coma patient would be far better off as they wouldn’t have the 20 years of bullshit ingrained in them.
