The great USB Scam

For those too lazy to click the article link, basically what's happening is that the USB consortium has changed the nomenclature of USB products. USB 1.1 products will now be known as "USB 2 Full Speed" products whereas USB 2.0 products will be known as "USB 2 Hi Speed" products, which is out and out bullsh1t, not to mention fraudulent! :| :| :|

What I like is when you order a fountain drink and are offered 3 sizes. Jumbo, large, and medium. How can you have a medium if you do not have a small?

Haha...you'd think it would be the other way around, USB 1.1 would be hi speed and USB 2.0 being full speed, full meaing the full amount of speed possible.

Dumbest thing ever.

It's just as shady as when USB 2.0 first came out and all the manufactures of peripherals where labeling them as USB 2.0 compatible.

How big of a problem is this in the western world? Thailand has one of the worst problems for computer scams, so i wouldn't get paranoid just yet.

Anyone tried to contact the big media about this? Heads should be rolling over this blatant attempt to take advantage of the consumer.

How about a boycott of USB? Screw those fraudeluent motherfc%%$$.

Anyone tried writing newsmags... How about Slate?

yeah but what do u propose we do about it?

we arent goign to do anythign about it but take it leik they give it to us....

wow...that's seriously just sad. We have enough to remember, and now whenever we buy a USB product, we have to make sure if it's "hi speed" or "full speed" in addition to everything else? That seriously made firewire look more attractive.

Holy sh|t! I know just the person to do it, too. Our very own Wduaqnug!!!!!!!!!! He likes pestering people of authority with his pissy petty little problems!

Oh, wait. This might not actually affect him personally, so he might not actually give a sh|t.

Domino's has/had that, sort-of, there is/was no 'medium', just small and large. If you ordered a medium you got a small. 9/10 they wouldn't tell you that. Not that they charged more but the size of the pizza may not have been enough if you ordered a medium thinking you needed more than a small. And not enough pizza = bad!

how bout, why would you buy a large pop at a fountain drink when refills are free?

MIKE

I always buy a small or medium if there is no small and refill as many times as I need to. 😉
