The great Michigan saw horse mystery

All the sub $50 ones vanished. The home depot with 12 listed as in stock? Zero. The Lowes with 11? None to be found. Another home depot with 5 listed? Nope. Several other stores nearby list "out of stock"

Ghosts? Maybe. Sophisticated thievery ring? Perhaps.

I was thinking, "get the metal brackets and cut your own wood". Then I looked at Amazon, and apparently most sawhorses now are all-metal! They do have some for under $50, though.

Wait for it to ripen.

same reason walmart was almost completely bare of fabric stuff when i walked by this aisle this morning. people ain't got nothing else to do. time to fix all the little squeaks around the house.

Yeah I'm shopping there now. Was hoping to use them tomorrow but it is what it is

Sure but for the inventories to be off by that much? I placed two online orders for pickup. One store there were 12 in stock and then another at a store with 5. Both canceled because they couldn't find them.

Use a real horse, problem solved.

That sounds like a good idea, but it's not really practical. When you're slicing bread on a saw horse and the chainsaw gets away from you a little it's not a problem. Take a chunk out of a real horse and the ASPCA crawls up your ass.

I had made some saw horses, problem is I had no saw horses, so I was working off the ground, which was crooked, so the saw horses ended up crooked, and everything I built using them. It's a vicious cycle!

The metal ones go on sale at Canadian Tire sometimes, $10 each, bought 4. They're still in the packaging but hopefully this summer I get around to redoing my garage shop. Got the floor resurfaced last year but it was too late to do epoxy.

But yeah, in a pinch I would just build some.

Harbor Freight for a $15 one? There's a 60% chance that it won't collapse on you and send your circular saw into your thigh.

I can't tell if that has a helper handle or not. If the bar isn't long enough to get all the through, you have to walk around to the other side. OP shouldn't have that problem cutting 2x4s though :^P

I just pulled that off the internet for something ridiculous, but I wonder what that guy's gonna do with the tree? Looks like it's firewood length cookies. Seems like a waste for a nice tree like that.

My wife got me some metal Kobalt ones from Lowe's. I didn't like them at first, but they fold up and the height is adjustable.

I used mine today to make a new boat transom. They're pretty decent.

I have 2 more sets of horses made of lumber. They're easy to make with a circular saw and a tailgate. You can get metal brackets for $5, but it's just as easy to drive some nails and make them permanent. Best part about wooden horses is that if you accidentally saw through them, they won't ruin your saw blades. (Sawing plywood is easier when you just saw through while it's supported...if you let it fall away, you have to support it or it will crack the last inch of the cut)
