I've already got it added to my amazon watch list. I watched a couple of teaser videos on youtube and I like how the role of the stig is portrayed by a bum sleeping at a race track in a tattered drivers suit. You're right MongGrel, who could forget that season 9 Reliant Robin shuttle with some help from the British Army which set a new standard for automotive foolishness.

If they are indeed filming it in 4k, this might be the excuse I've been looking for to buy a 4k TV. :grinning:

You gotta love the giant tent that Amazon has provided to them for the show. I think that its way cool to have the same setup at each location as a base of operations and to have the same producer from Top Gear doing this show.

FYI the release is 12:01 AM GMT, that means it will be watchable in the US tonight. Here in Colorado (MST) that means 6:01 PM release time tonight!

Downloading ep 1 right now for offline playback (Amazon Video app) at work during my break. :)

EDIT: mmm, that blue Rocket Mustang

EDIT 2: Good first ep. Even with the changes in moving to Amazon, it still is very much Top Gear in feel with Clarkson, Hammond, and May. I like the new track and the celebrity guest segment. :D

Now fess up: which one of you is the American? :p

Half way through the first episode and it's been fun so far.

PSA if you use the WAZE gps app you can get Jezza, Captain Slow, and the Hamster as the voice.

I had my Waze on earlier this week for proper preparation. I really enjoyed the first episode. I am glad the overly stylized photography was kept only for a montage scene once or twice. The one thing that bugged me about BBC Top Gear was the constant heavy vignetting and contrast turned up to 11. The Grand Tour looked really good. Bright, sharp and balanced. Nit picky, I know, but it was a welcome change.
And yes, I like this show because they clearly have a good time making it. That does a lot for me when entertainment is done by those that love their jobs and enjoy each other's company.
And yes, the celebrity guest segment had me in stitches.

The visual quality was nothing short of incredible. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Really enjoyed it, nice that they didn't have to worry about editing it down for commercials, over an hour long, no breaks. The fight scene was a bit silly, but overall they are back!
