What all does the dvd have on it?

Seen the movie probably 10 times or so on cable.

The usual deleted scenes, commentaries, technical featurettes and whatnot. I think they include the scene with the octopus (did you ever notice that at the end, Chunk tells the Sheriff that the octopus was the scariest part of the ordeal, yet there is now octopus anywhere in the film?).

In my experience, people born after about 1982 just don't seem to "get" The Goonies.

I just thought that Chunk was a big fat liar anyway. B/C when he called the sheriff originally, the didn't believe him b/c he was always making up sh!t😉

As to the second part, I agree. I was born 1/1/80. The Goonies, Karate Kid, Back to the Future and Space Camp were my favorite in the 80's.

1981 didnt see the movie until late 80's 😉 lurved it

EDIT* along with Short Circuit (w0rd!) and Back to the Future 😀

I rented the DVD about a year ago, hoping for a good movie, but also fearing the worst. I was pleasantly suprised -- I thought it was pretty darn funny. It was too raunchy for a kids movie, but nevertheless, it was still quite entertaining.

One of the greatest movies EVER? Hardly. Spielberg's greatest movie? Nope, he didn't direct it; he was just the executive producer.

Worth getting on DVD? For the special features, yup. The commentary is wonderful -- you actually SEE the director and cast while they comment on screen. Plus, the music video with Cyndi Lauper is just un-freakin-believable. 🙂

Heh. Goonies is a good movie, I remember when it came out. DVD worthy? I don't know, but it's fun movie.
BTW, it and Short Circuit were both filmed at the same location, in Astoria, OR. Near the 5-mile-wide mouth of the Columbia River, it's the oldest city (or town really) in the NW and has one of the world's longest bridges (IIRC, you can see it in the background of several scenes in Goonies). Kindergarten Cop was filmed there too. Good location, I guess, with lots of forested hills and old Victorian homes.

Oh man my fave was Data he was so freaking funny his inventions were kick-butt back then. He has since played in "Encino Man"?Where was he in that movie? and also Indiana Jones: Temple of Doom!

"That's what I said, boooooooobie traps"

😀

Didn't it go something like this....

Data: "I'm setting booooobie traps."

Group: "Booooobie traps."

Data: "That's what I said, I'm setting booooooooooobie traps."

Chunk: "I got it! I got it! I got it!"

Fiddling with statue....... ~~~CRASH~~~

Chunk: "I don't got it."

Group: "YOU CLUTZ"

Fiddling with broken ummmm piece....

Mikie: "That's my moms favorite part!"

Sloth: "BABY.... RUTH.... RUTH.... BABY.. RUTH"

Loved it and still love it.

Our parents, they want the bestest stuff for us. But right now they gotta do what's right for them, 'cause it's their time. Their time, up there. Down here it's our time. It's our time down here. That's all over the second we ride up "Troy's bucket".

I always thought that scene with Data went like this:

Data: "I'm setting booootie twaps!"
Mikey: "Boobie traps?"
Data: "That's what I said! I'm setting boooobie twaps!"

I always thought he said "bootie twaps" the first time. When Mikey said "boobie traps", then I thought Data pronounced it right.

BTW....I have the DVD and it's an AWESOME movie. 😀

*two thumbs up from jc*

Mrs. Walsh: Pants and shirts are in the second. Jus..just throw them all into cardboard boxes. Forget the suitcases. (To Mouth) Clarke, can you translate that?
Mouth: Why certainly, Mrs. Walsh.
Mrs. Walsh: (Whispering to herself, smiling and proud of Clarke) Oh, that's wonderful, simply wonderful.
Mouth: (To Rosalita) Translation: Marijuana goes in the top drawer. Cocaine and Speed in the second, the Heroin in the bottom. Always separate the drugs.
(Mouth walks away, managing to contain his laughter. Rosalita stares disbelievingly at the chest. The others are trying to take advantage of Mikey's mom's business with Rosalita to repair the statue.)
Chunk: Look. How's that? How's that?
(Chunk glued the penis on up-side-down.)
Mikey: Oh you idiot. You glued it on up-side-down.
Brand: You dork. If God made us do it that way you'd all be pissing in your faces.
Chunk: Looks fine to me.
(Mrs. Walsh, Mouth, and Rosalita approach the half-open attic stairs.)
Mrs. Walsh: Now Rosalita, this is the attic. Mr. Walsh doesn't like anybody (tiptoeing to close the stairway with her free hand) up here, ever. (Sarcastically) I guess that's why it's always open.
Mouth: (translation) Never go up there. It's filled with Mr. Walsh's Sexual Torture Devices.
(Mouth walks on; Rosalita stares at the attic in shock. She jumps when Mouth touches her left shoulder. Mrs. Walsh leads them on to her supply closet.)
Mrs. Walsh: This is my supply closet. You'll find everything you need: brooms, dustpans, insect spray... (Emphasizing) I would really like the house clean when they tear it down. Clarke, can you translate?
Mouth: (translation) If you do a bad job you'll be locked in here with the cockroaches for two weeks without food or water.
Mrs. Walsh: Okay, Rosie? (Kindly, smiling) Okay? You're going to be very happy here. (To Mouth) Come on Clarke, we've got much more to do. You're so fluent in languages.
Rosalita: (to herself) (translation) I am in a crazy house.
(Mrs. Walsh is done instructing Rosalita and is coming downstairs with Mouth, praising him on his remarkable skills as an interpreter.)
Mrs. Walsh: You are so fluent in Spanish. That was so nice of you.
Mouth: "Nice" is my middle name, Mrs. Walsh.

"I hope it's not a deposit bottle."--Chunk, the funniest guy in the movie

Hey, NFS4, what special features does it have? I chose Memento to add to my collection before Goonies. I will get this soon.
