The Google Nik photo editors are free now

It's nice that this $200 photo editing package is free now, but I'm worried that they will eventually kill it off like they did with Picasa.

Google's primary focus are mobile devices. By "killing off", you mean no further development or updates to Nik filters, you are most likely correct. Still, for free, can't really complain too much.

And worth every penny. No, wait, that's not what I meant. The NIK collection is excellent software, and for free, you can't go wrong. Just know they are not stand alone applications, but plugins for the major pixel pushers (PS, LR, etc.). Several have become my go to apps for post production. Thanks, Google!

I'm running them as stand-alone apps. I have nothing to plug them in to. Granted the lack of integration means workflow isn't streamlined, but oh well.
