America starts to think 🙂

As on other location already posted a few times...well we will run out of oil soon...two/three decades....and this country is not prepared and basically 99,9% dependant on oil. A total economic breakdown would be the result if the very pessimistic predictions come true.

Now it looks people start to think about more economic cars, and maybe there is progress in the direction of alternative energy sources etc...something which america is very much lacking compared to other countries where gas is/always was *extremely* expensive.

my $0.2

your twenty cents?

I agree, but don't you think the prices should have been going up earlier, and at a slower rate?

Like when the economy WAS good and could take it?

"Oh ya, we are supposed to be slowing on our gas usage... let's raise the prices dramatically in a matter of months."

At least people may save the air by carpooling, BART(bay area rapid transit), or the train, instead of driving thier gas guzzling SUVS to work.

5 years from now, tiny, small cars that weigh nothing will be made by Toyota (not Dodg,e Chevy or Ford as they are idiots) and probably get 100 MPG.

I'm taking the bus to work about half the time right now. I'm trying to make it all of the time, but I have to get up 20 or 30 minutes earlier when I take the bus... I often don't get up early enough.

But I'm kind of frugal/cheap/price conscious anyway even before the gas prices got so high. I'm wondering if anyone is modifying their driving habits in response to gas prices yet.

i started driving a neon instead of a sable and taking my lunch break at work instead of going out somewhere every day.

Ya the main problem, is there are so many people driving heavy ass SUVs that not only guzzle, but would kill anyone driving an energy efficient car since they are so light (if they got in a wreck)

I think there needs to be a bike lane along the highway, as dangerous as that is, I foresee more bikers in the future.

I have no problem driving a single passenger energy efficient car, and then just renting a U Haul when you need to move stuff, or have a pickup truck or something on the side.

What kind of mpg do motorcycles get?

And yes, we will run out of oil sooner than we like.
