I acquired a 6200LE card for incredibly cheap, as in free. One of my Inspiron 531s, X2 3800 with 2GB of RAM, still had its 6150SE IGP. Pop in the 6200, install drivers, reboot. I let Vista run its Performance Review, and it comes up with a score of 2.2 for both graphics.

The 6150SE by itself scores a 3.0.

Guess I will buy that Radeon 4350 for this box.

Yes it is.

Yes you should.

I stuck a 4350 in my other Inspiron 531, made a huge difference. Even though these systems aren't gaming machines, its nice to actually be able to use them for more than just S@H and playing with OSs, etc.

I honestly thought the 6200LE would be faster than the 6150SE IGP, if only marginally.

There's a good chance these boxes will be loaner systems for a LAN party I might be hosting in the near future.

I have 2 such 6200s I got on similar deals on separate occasions a while back, and both serve strictly as emergency back up cards for problem solving (one is PCI, the other PCI-e).

For satisfactory 2D desktop experience including video playback in Vista/Win7, it takes at least a 8500 GT/9400 GT (16 shaders) or a HD 3450/HD 4350 (40 shaders) class card, from my experience. 6200 was great for XP.

It only sucks if you're dim enough to get one and expect to max out S.T.A.L.K.E.R. CS with it. If however you bought it to display 2d then it's as good as any card for the task.

Heh, I've got a 6200 in a relatively ancient Vista HP box right now (shipped with MCE 05), with an old Athlon X2-4200+. Plays 720p MKV files and other media with no problem. Why would anyone expect 3d out of this class of card? A 4350, while better, is still terrible for 3d.

I'm losing faith in forums, I don't think people read any of the posts anymore. The 6200 is terrible even for some basic 2D stuff such as Aero.

I definitely read the thread and the posts within, I just don't understand. The 6200 I'm using is hooked up to an older 42" 1080p LCD (Insignia, ugh), and it doesn't have any problem with Aero or playing HD media off the hard drive. Would I use it for gaming or any serious work? No. But for general web browsing and playing back even 720p content, I see no problem, and that is through the default Vista Home Premium 'Aero' desktop. As it's primarily to play hulu and stuff for the kids, it's fine for the work it does as a 3rd PC.

My point was that I thought it was going to be better than the integrated 6150SE chip. It was not.
