how long does the battery last?
Not flaming, just saying... 😀

I don't understand this obsession with battery life.

Every wall in America has at least one AC outlet on it, and cars still have cigarette lighter receptacles (even though the ash trays are missing).

It's a part of buying a portable computer...

Because, if I did care about battery life, I would buy a 12 cell battery on eBay!

Example: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISA...Item&item=150357049704 (eBay - 12 cell Asus 1000 battery - $54 with free shipping)

Doesn't such a battery protrude from the normal dimensions of the case?

People want long battery life so they aren't tethered to anything, its part of the notebook allure. No wires, no cables, work or play from anywhere.

Yep!

But, my understanding is, it actually makes the Eee PC more usable because it places the keyboard at a better angle - sort of like those little folding legs on the underside of desktop keyboards, that everybody is so fond of... 😉

LoL! Allure... Good one!

I'd call it witchery or brainwashing, but that's just me... 😀

Most interesting thread. It is beginning to look like there will be a convergence between netbooks and notebooks. This is good for market competition, especially these days.

Right now, netbooks have USB ports. When one replaces a USB with a eSATA port, then I will really get interested.
