Agree this is absolutely to expensive, and therefore only relevant to those who needs the pen. This will not sell in huge numbers.

But still, if you need the pen, the screen is way above IP mini as well as performance and added functionality.

Theverge stupid Apple bias, gets through here as usual. Not mentioning the ipad mini as well and ipad2 screen just is stoneage compared to this pls screen.

"Plastic problem" ?? Get out of here, i have seen enough ipad wrapped in ugly rubber. Pathetic.

Yeah, TheVerge's reviews are laughable compared to something like Anandtech's. But that goes without saying

As expected wireless data (forget voice) is cut off for the US model.

Huh? The WiFi model is available now.

Not sure about any cellular data models though, those usually aren't a good buy regardless of the tablet.

I checked the 8.0 out this week, and it is just the right size for my needs, but I just have a hard time swallowing the $399 price tag. If it was even $50 less, I'd have to really consider picking one up.

The Note 10.1 can be had for only $449, and I think that is a fairly decent price, but it also makes the 8.0's price seem that much more unreasonable. My guess is that pricing will come down, but it's a question of how long that takes. Being that it just hit stores a week ago, I believe it won't be anytime real soon.

The Nexus 7 is a lot better on pricing, but I don’t like the fact that is has no micro-SD option. I also appreciate the added one inch of screen size of the 8.0, even though it doesn’t seem like a lot on paper. I’m sure Samsung sees the S-pen as being some justification for the higher price point, but I don’t really see myself utilizing it much.

The iPad Mini is a nice size too, but the hardware seems a bit weak vs. the 8.0. And again, no micro-SD. Apple’s $100 per 16GB upgrade seems like a money grab, plus the mini’s display ppi being lower still than the 8.0’s.

If I could deal with a 10.1 tablet, I’d probably spring for a 32GB Nexus 10, despite not having micro-SD expansion capabilities.

Well, after drinking several hefeweizens at the Claim Jumpers next to Best Buy, I decided to buy a Note 8.

Also, talked a young couple out of a Surface RT and into a Note 10.1. :)

Edit - New 6.09MB firmware already? 'Improved Stability'.

Hefeweizens. Nice choice! Glad to hear you steered them to the Note 10.1 also.

I took the opposite approach and drank a guinness or three after I bought my note 8 monday to help me forget the 400 bux I dropped. LOL. Dont regret it one bit. 8" is perfect. Ive had an a500, tab 7 plus and currently still have a transformer infinity. This has felt the most comfortable in hand; right size, right weight. Its also stupidly quick and fluid. Love it.

Anand actually basically likes it. Will wonders ever cease?

I'll expect him to remember his stated preference for black levels over high white levels when he compares the i5S panel to the S4, however. :D

How are y'all enjoying your extra 50gb of Dropbox?

You know what's funny? I remember the S3 had some promo on AT&T with 50GB Dropbox for 2 years. I somehow was able to get in on that as a Verizon S3 user. One of the ROMs was able to get access, so I've been enjoying the 50GB of space and putting it to good use with my unlimited data plan. ;)

Second OTA, 6.81MB. Improved Stability. Little more depth would be nice.

edit - From XDA.
"As of yesterday, the device is running a new kernel & the build number is now JZO54K.N5510UEDMD1."

So, how does the OP like his Galaxy Note 8? The wife is thinking of getting an iPad Mini because her iPad 2 is too heavy. I'm trying to convince her to get this device instead since it has a stylus for note-taking and Android is infinitely easier to deal with. Also, if it would drop to the price of the Mini then, IMHO, it would be a no-brainer but we can't get everything...

The LTE model is available from AT&T for $499 no contract. If you have an eligible upgrade you could do the 1/2 off S4 deal which gets you $200 off the tablet. :)

$199.99 Galaxy Note® 8.0 or Galaxy Tab 2 price includes $100 off non-commitment price - and for a limited time an add'l $200 off w/ purchase of Galaxy S 4, Galaxy S 4 Active or Galaxy Note II.

I couldn't resist and wound up just adding 2 lines to my data share plan as there was zero activation fees going this way. Picked up a Galaxy S4 active to sell, which got me $200 off the Galaxy Note 8 LTE.

Premier account also gave me a $25 instant discount on my online order and stated I'd get a $100 credit on my bill within 30 days!

Wound up paying $362.59 shipped after tax. :)
