Do like the old way the V6 and "reg" V8 are a Caprice and the 415hp model would be the Impala.

"Pontiac this year sold more of the G8 than Acura sold of its high-volume TL luxury sedan and Infiniti sold of its sporty G37.

It's a stretch to say that based on that article the G8 will live on. That GM is considering it would be more likely.

What if they revived it under the Buick marque?

Keeping Lutz on board, even in an advisory role, will only result in good things for GM. He was a big proponent of the zeta platform. I'm sure he'll push to have it revived for the U.S. as soon as possibe.

Maybe they will. But the model and the G8 had a nice 6 speed automatic, which did very well. Too bad the GTO did not have the 6 speed automatic, only a 4 speed automatic in it.

So that all 5 people in the US who care can think about buying one and then make up another reason why not to get it anyway?

There would be more than 5 people who would buy one.

Ok, maybe 500, but you get my point.

I tend to believe that almost anything in the news about any company is planted there on purpose. It is mysteriously leaked, but on purpose.

Therefore, I think that this story was leaked on purpose by GM to stir up excitement and enthusiasm for the idea. And then, i suspect, to follow through.

Welcome back soon G8.

Good news. Now just needs a better steering wheel and HID's, nav as options.

Will put the Taurus SHO to shame, and come in at a lower price. Win.

Not bad, but the grill emblem would need to be removed. It would look better without it.

I'm not sure about this. As much as I want a G8, i don't see it fitting in well in the "new" GM. As they said in the article, it would compete with other GM cars very easily. Isn't this what GM needs to avoid if it's going to be successful moving forward? *sigh* It's no win.

It has to look close to this: http://www.holden.com.au/vehicles/Caprice

The front end on that is light years ahead of the Pontiac front end.

Holden is the best division in GM.
The Pontiac looks more aggressive with the redone nose and smoked taillights. For a design that already looks a little bland, I don't think dumbing it down for Chevy is the right way to go.

No. The Pontiac was over the top, trying too hard. I think the Holden version is the best. The car is supposed to move units while looking good. It was never supposed to be some catwalk model or design prototype.

IMHO.

Over the top? You can't be serious. All they did was change the grill. The Aussie and US versions are virtually identical. It was a low volume car from the get-go. Otherwise they would have brought over a lower trim model without the big wheels and ground effects kit. Check out the base Commodore. That would surely hit the market with fanfare. Or maybe not.

What GM does with the Chevy version depends on where they position it in their lineup. If they plan to sell Impalas and Caprices side-by-side, rest assured the Caprice is going to look like a SEMA showcar. That is if they want it to actually sell.

I'm not trying to convince you, it's my opinion, but anyway, you said it yourself (see bold).
