What i'm trying to say here is that there are more games on the consoles that you can't play on the pc then the other way around. And that games look better on pc then on the consoles won't be true for the next 2 years and even then playing games at high resolutions and details on your pc comes at a high-price: the cost of the state of the art hardware for your pc.

Ok i'l make a small list then of games that you can't play on pc: Metal gear solid, Burnout, Forza Motorsport, Gran Turismo, Soul Caliber, Tekken, Dead or Alive, Timsplitters, Halo 2, Killzone, Final Fantasy and there's so much more where that came from.(for example al Nintendo games).

seriously though, are hdtvs that popular? and if you don't have one how good will the ps3 games look? i'm not concerned with xbox as i will wait for ps3 for my 9 y/o son, although i'll probably still have a hard time pulling him away from morrowind and rome:tw.

Hey, go crazy.. The PC is a "Jack of all trades" while the console is a "specialist".
The PC can do anything you want it to. If there is a game that exists for a console that doesn't exist for a PC, it can be ported to PC. I'd like to see someone try to port a web browser, Pinnacle Studio DVD creation Suite, MS office, etc. I would probably hit the character limit for this entire forum before I was able to list all the things PC's can do.
It's cool that your a supporter of consoles, because they are pretty cool themselves. But the reality of it is, its strictly for gaming, and watching movies, and listening to music CD's. That's it.
I would take a Jack of all trades over a specialist in a heartbeat. So, go buy your console for 300 bucks and over the course of a year you will dedicate all of your hard earned allowance, birthday money, gift certificates, to purchasing games for it at about 60 to 80 dollars a pop. Buy ten games and your up to 600 to 800 dollars over the cost of the console. I'm not trying to stop you from getting your console brudda, you will do what you wish of course. Just trying to shed a little light on how MS and SONY and NIN all want to bleed your parents pockets dry for the sake of entertaining their children.

I thought we where talking about gaming here? And again you don't need a high-end pc for those applications. All i'm trying to say here is that for gaming the pc is not superior to a console, because there are so many games you can't play on the pc and so little you can't on a console. And the pc as a gaming platform is losing advantages fast: online gaming was the number one advantage of a pc but that's now also possible on the consoles. The Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 are all equipped with usb ports so hooking up a mouse and keyboard to your console and play FPS and Strategie games with it is also possible(iv'e go a Playstation 2 and that console has got 2 usb ports and so i tried them out. I hooked up my pc optical mouse and keyboard to the Playstation 2 and started up the game Unreal Tournament. And it worked fine). Not only that a console costs a lot less then i high-end pc and has a much longer lifespan. Don't get me wrong i also like pc, but the fact is that for gaming a console is becoming much more interresting.
Originally posted by: keysplayr2003Agreed, consoles are becoming more interesting. But like I said, any console game can be ported to PC which "to me" makes consoles least interesting.

Biggest problem with the 360 compared to the PS3 is simple. The XBOX has a 10MB vid card buffer, which pretty much limits you to a 4X FSAA without falling into the actual RAM of the system.
The PS3, on the other hand, can utilize all 512MB of RAM as a buffer, providing a much larger space for textures and whatnot.
Naturally, this is all theoretical, but I think you're going to see the results in the visual department as an end result.
R500 has access to as much memory as RSX--actually, 10MBs more, counting the on-die 10MB buffer. And apparently R500 doesn't need to fit all the back-buffers into EDRAM at once. It can tile if need be, according to the Firingsquad ATI in Xb360 interview.Originally posted by: Ronin

I guess we'll see after both Xb360 and PS3 are released exactly how much EDRAM helps WRT AA, when people see real games on their HDTVs.
There is something your overlooking here sparky, what do the games cost and how many of them have you purchased? Don't tell me you just play the game that came with each console when you purchased them. What about the extra controllers? What about the network adapter? What about the headset? 299.00 is a joke.Originally posted by: LikeLinus

Your arguments are weaker than a wet paper towel.
Guess what. I own both a gaming pc, xbox, gamecube and ps2. I plan on owning a 360 and will get the PS3 if I think its good enough. Know why? I'm an adult and I make good money. I can own both and see the value in both. That's quite an accomplishment. Let me pencil that in as one of my goals in life.
When you get over the age of 12....tell me you don't see the value in getting 3-4 friends over for some Madden football or other games w/ a case of beer (captain and coke for me!) and having a blast. "Men" usually get together despite protests from their wives and watch real football games. And if you think being able to consume alcohol legally is a sign of maturity.... Think again...
Oh wait...you're going to gather all your friends around your 17" monitor and share the keyboard. Nope, they are going to play over the NET, and communicate through something like Xfire. Wow, you must live alone. Your wife would rip you a new one if you were married. I take it you have no children but that is speculative.
Meanwhile my graphics will be every bit as good as yours and it cost me a whopping $299. OMG look out poor house!!!!

That to me reminds me so much of the PS2 hype that its scary.
I would of thought it was just marketing bs from the other guys but some high ups at Sony have apparently admitted it.
The PS3 may be way better than the 360, but running videos instead of actual hardware at E3 is not a good idea, at least imo.
