Nice, they went all out with their predictions,

air conditioned highways

Radiant heated highways!

Delivering freight with rockets!

Atomic cars!

Some stuff they got right (though their exact detail may be off)...GPS navigation is one thing (scanning maps). Decentralized urban centers, interstate highway system. Global economy, etc...

I noticed the same thing. Container transport as well. While not quite as advanced as in the movie, sea containers are loaded onto trucks...then onto rail cars for transport, then back onto trucks to their final destination.

Let's see in a few hundreds of years if the world developed around the highways.

what year was this from?

1958. Their optimistic outlook on the future is certainly different from today. We live in a world of constant doom and gloom about our future. :\

Knowing how reluctant governments are to put money into infrastructure, we'll probably be using the same highways we do today.

Infrastructure of the U.S. really hasn't changed much at all from when that video was made.

Computer tech is on par with some of the predictions, though, as you really could have business video teleconferencing in cars. Just don't do it while driving :D

Gas Turbine---Rocket-----Atom----Solar powered cars. Closest will be Solar, but not in the way envisioned. The Video was certainly Optimistic.
