This is just a blog post, but I've seen it getting some attention, and thought it might prompt some discussion here.

https://goplifer.com/2016/07/22/resignation-letter/

Is there a chance here for the GOP to burn off the crazy and rise again with the Phoenix as its new symbol, being reborn with their worthwhile ideals at their core?

I think a party with those ideals would see a lot of broad support and wouldn't have to cater to zealotry to get it.

Self-reported repost.

It certainly seems as though Paul Ryan is slowly being anointed as the Anti-Trump.

The Iraq War, the financial meltdown, the utter failure of supply-side theory, climate denial, and our strange pursuit of theocratic legislation have all been troubling. Yet it seemed that America’s party of commerce, trade, and pragmatism might still have time to sober up. Remaining engaged in the party implied a contribution to that renaissance, an investment in hope. Donald Trump has put an end to that hope.

Isn't this a repost?

EDIT: Yes it is.

Unless they can reign in the influence of fox news and all the alternative media any attempts to right the ship will be futile. Fear and anger is a product that too many conservative "news" outlets are financially invested in, and they will not sit idly by and watch their customer base wither away by having them calm down.
