The 'future' of nForce

Have any big name companies said they are making an nForce board?

I sure hope abit makes one! Can't wait to get one of those 😉

ASUS, MSI, and Abit already have boards out in retail channels. Gigabyte will follow with it's nForce shortly.

Also, these same companies will be making the new 415-D nForce chipset. This chipset should garner a lot of attention as it has all of it's integrated features intact, minus the GeForce2MX core. Leaving out the GeF2MX core will make nForce a lot more appealing to most people here on AT because it will be much cheaper and overclock better (rumors are that it will cost anywhere between $80-100).

If you want to get an nForce board and don't want the GeForce2 graphics, wait for 415-D boards to hit the streets. They will be out in February.

Well, I didn't know abit had made one, all I was aware of was the asus and msi.

Thanks for the info on the new 415, but I heard the 220 was also rumored to be around the same price. Are they they same thing, except the 420 has the onboard video?

Are there any reviews for the abit board yet?

YOu got it backwards, the 420 HAS onboard video, the new 415 will NOT.

Whole point is gamers don't want the onboard anyway, so they were reulctant to spend the extra money for it.

The 420-D is the one with the onboard video that's been available for a while now, the 415-D (formerly 220-D never released) is the new version (not yet available) without integrated video. Obviously the 420-D is more expensive, estimates about $50 more.

<< 415-D (formerly 220-D never released) >>

No. 220-D was released, no boards were made using it. Let me clear this up:

420: Integrated Video, Twinbank architechure
415: No-integrated Video, Twinbank architechure
220: Integrated Video, no twinbank

And then if any of these have -D added, that means they have DD 5.1 support.

As for the future of NForce, well, the future in the enthusaist market is 415-D, and Here are the boards I've heard of so far, but more are on the way:

Asus A7N266-C
MSi K7N415 Pro
Leadtek K7N415

And more are supposedly on their way. There will also be sometime this year a new nForce that will supposedly feature a GF3 (or prolly GF4) MX core, and support PC2700 DDR, but don't expect this to perfom like a GF4MX because it won't even have the same bandwidth as a GF2 GTS so, but that's what's upcoming for nForce.

The nv7m looks pretty trashy. 2 memory slots and 3 pci slots, I'm quite dissapointed.
I hope thier next one is a bit better!
