I've been alluding to this for a while now, but I have found this very interesting.

Essentially, the 1 series coupe in 2013 will be redone and will have a 4 cylinder twin turbocharged.

The M3 will be redone I think and BMW is saying it will be either a V6 or an inline 6 twin turbo'd.

Meanwhile, the six series has been redone, and rumor has it that it'll be a twin-turbo V10, released before new CAFE standards are released as well.

Although I'm not sure if the new M5 will be a twin turbo V10 or V8.

The 1-series is attractive because it's basically an engine and a seat. I really hope they don't downsize proportional to the car.

I LOVE the fact that you can get the guts of a 335 in a smaller form factor, even though I totally can't afford it. In fact, the only BMWs that really attract me are the 135 and 335, and if I had to choose, I'd probably take the 135 for the pure performance aspect. I'd have to "settle" for the 335, though, since sometimes I require a back seat.

I'm sure BMW wouldn't disappoint with what they put in the higher trim 1-series, 4 cyl or not, but it just wouldn't be the same to me.

I'd like to see the 1 series M. That should be interesting.

True, right now they have an "M Package" for the 135i, but it isn't quite the same.

Although the BMW M1 is something entirely different from the 1 series M.

As for a 4 cylinder, I'd love to see the twin turbo be put in there, maybe for a boost of around 350bhp--that'd be excellent. :D

I just don't get why they didn't increase output, instead of lowering it. And it is about the same weight as well.

Plus, same thing with the A6, I do believe.

Its not that simple.

The 3.0T in the newest S4 has more torque than the 4.2L V8 in the last gen and has it at lower RPM. It only hast 10 less HP yet it is the fastest S4 yet.

Interesting, I did not know that. That said, the 4.2L V8 is the same in the R8 and RS4, I believe, only the engineers had to work out airflow and then programming the engines for their output.

What?

Theres a new chassis so the engine sits behind the front axle, not crammed up in behind the radiator.

Fuel economy is up big time. The 4.2 is one of the biggest guzzlers, 9-12 mpg in the city.

The torque curve is much nicer now and hp is barely down.

I'm sure the V6 leaves more room in the engine bay for work to be done. With the V8, labor costs where insane do to having to remove bumpers or even pull the engine so do the simplest job.

Right, that makes sense, but you can still raise output.

I mean that is what the RS5 is probably going to have the same 4.2 V8 in the RS4, only instead of 420 hp, it'll have 450.

OR, it'll have a twin-turbo V8 4.2 and produce 480 bhp.
That sounds more like it. :D

(BE Twin turbo, BE Twin Turbo!)

Or supercharged, whatever.

Btw, I'd like to see the new M3 (2014) a little more like the older BMWs, the new ones are too bulbous, although the current M3 is gorgeous. I love those hood vents.

Don't forget that modifying the engine should be pretty easy as well.

I was razzing against an M3 on the the dual carriage way from traffic lights for fun up to the 60mph speed limit. His car sounded pretty awesome in 2nd gear :D he didn't wheel spin at all, not that I launched hard or it launchs well anyway, just watned to see how much faster his car was :p

He was in convertible so his was was heavier then the coupe, looked good and the look is growing on me. Black with read leather looked good.
