Lmao, under the effects of steroids... Oh, and some other drugs too, you know, the ones that actually made him act crazy.

Am I missing something here, or are you not up on the psychological effects of steroids?

Don't steroids typically just add more testosterone into the system? Testosterone itself doesn't cause craziness. It can cause more aggressiveness. I think what he was getting at is that steroids don't necessarily make any man strip naked, sit in front of a strangers porch and then proceed to beat said stranger to a pulp. Now if it were his girl and she was giving him lip...

I think it's safe to say the roids are responsible atleast for the beatings. The naked part not so much. There's a reason the term "roid rage" exists.

Is there any evidence that steroids can cause an otherwise completely normal person to go bonkers? Like i said, if the biggest behavioral change is additional testosterone it can push an already angry/aggressive person over the edge but it wouldn't make an otherwise normal person particularly violent.

I'm not an expert on this topic, i'm honestly just curious.

I think you're right. I've never heard of a person solely on roids just randomly strip down and wait at a random person's porch ready to beat them down. Either their is more to what is reported, like the guy knew the couple and he was boinking the wife or something, or he was on something else too.

I'm not sure what it would take to convience of hard testing or evidence, but trying searching youtube for roid rage. Here is a pretty common clip - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-oCnqy8Klaw

I thought it was widely accepted that testosterone makes creatures more aggresive, keep elevating the levels and you get to a tipping point.

And to clarify, again, I'm not saying roids would make him be naked AND beat them. Just the beating part...

Angry people who take steroids are still angry. Roid rage is a myth just like Reefer Madness.

Oh so it's a movie? Didn't know movies were a myth. :hmm:

I think you're being obtuse.

So the guy was angry at himself for losing, punched a wall and teared up a bit? I'm kinda embarassed to say it now but I used to do that too when I was playing Varsity tennis in high school and I lost a big game. Doesn't mean I did roids. On top of that, the guy does competitive MMA fighting which is the most aggressive sport in existence. It would tend to attract aggressive personalities don't you think?

I'm not saying steroids don't cause over-aggresiveness but the people who go into "roid-rage" are ones that are probably already fairly near the tipping point to begin with... And now they have the muscle to back it up.
