I looked and didn't see this posted but if it was I will punch myself in the balls to make up for the repost.

Granted normal people aren't going to pull that off but it is still impressive.

That's a pretty nice display of how mature their technology is. I'm sure I wouldn't see that sort of mileage if I bought one but I wouldn't be surprised if you could average 50+ mpg with minimal effort.

Some journalist from LA Times averaged about 45 MPG in town. And that is just him trying it out for a weekend. I'm sure an owner can get 50 or close to it after a while.

My Fusion Hybrid will be here next week, hopefully Thursday according to my dealer, I certainly will be trying for maximum mileage, and honestly if I cant hit 50mpg I'll be disappointed in myself.

Is the weather warm in Michigan yet? When this guy did it, it was like in the 60's and 70's and sunny.

It's Michigan, not Alaska. :p It has been in the upper 60's up to the 90's here in Harrisburg and probably roughly the same up in Detroit area. Might be a little cooler up in the UP, but it's not like it's the frozen tundra.

Yea it is definitely in the 60s already here and has been for a few weeks. Anyways I know my mileage will suffer come winter time, but again with just a few hypermiling techniques I should still be able to get over the EPA rating in the winter time. And WAY over in warmer times.

The other reason is that my driving is 85-90% city driving. And one way to work is about 7 miles all city one way. So driving to work would be ~75miles a week. Total I might put 100 miles or so a week on my car, with a Fusion Hybrid, it literally might be months before I'd need to get gas again.

I figure if I can average 51-55mpg, I could go nearly 1,000 miles before a fill up. And that would amazing.
