The Freshmen
Verve Pip
Villains

When I was young I knew everything
And she a punk who rarely ever took advice
Now I'm gilt stricken,
Sobbing with my head on the floor
Stop a baby's breath and a shoe full of rice
I can't be held responsible
Cause she was touching her face
I won't be held responsible
She fell in love in the first place

For the life of me I cannot remember
What made us think that we were wise and
We'd never compromise
For the life of me I cannont believe
We'd ever die for these sins
We were merely freshmen

My best friend took a week's
Vacation to forget her
His girl took a weeks's worth of
Valium and slept
Now he's guilt stricken sobbing with his
Head on the floor
Thinks about her now and how he never really
Wept he says

We've tried to wash our hands of all this
We never talk of our lacking relationships
And how we're guilt stricken sobbing with our
Heads on the floor
We fell through the ice when we tried not to
Slip, we'd say

Speaking of "verve" get bittersweet symphony by verve pipe I think its called. That song is mad.

I'm thinking its about two young people that were going to get married, but the girl wanted it more than the guy, yet she died somehow before the marriage happened.

Think I heard the singer guy sayin he wrote it about when he got his GF pregnent when they were *gasp* freshmen

yeah..I also thought it had something to do with pregnancy b/c of the "baby's breath" part. what's confusing for me is where does the best friend part come in..and what role does he play:

I assumed the Baby's breath and shoe full of rice part was talking about a wedding and the the fact that he said "stop" means it didn't happen. Baby's breath is a bunch of tiny white flowers that is often used in wedding corsages and flower arrangements, and a shoe full of rice could be the rice that would be thrown at the wedding. Then again, who knows, I could be completely wrong.
