An offshoot of the Lincoln Project is launching Tuesday, aiming to unify people opposed to partisan dysfunction and authoritarianism through civics education and grassroots organizing.

The Franklin Project, while a nonprofit and legally distinct from its predecessor, will target "the exact same problem ... but from different angles and with different methods," says co-executive director Greg Jenkins, a George W. Bush administration alumnus.

• Lincoln will keep airing its brash, anti-Trump ads while Franklin will focus on nonpartisan education and collaboration tailored to build consensus.
• "We're not the megaphone; we're the convener," Jenkins said.

Since the Lincoln Project very likely could be given credit for making enough difference to cause Turmp to lose (and Republicans to lose Senate), seems to me that even if you didn't like the ones behind it, it still served the interest of liberals that donated to it. Personally, while am happy that many conservatives reject Trump and his merry band of cult worshipers, I have trouble chalking that up to pure morality because I can't square the so called establishment conservatism, or 'rational conservatism', 'philosophical conservatism' or whatever name people want to apply to conservatives who oppose him and seem to acquire a measure of respectability thereby with anything I, myself, would associate with morality. Conservatism to my mind has always had as its unconscious motivational bias, a fear of loss by those who have to those excluded for whatever reason from the comparative successful. One common means by which self hate hides behind ego is the pretext that the economic successful are successful because of personal virtue rather than having, accidentally, the qualities to succeed in a very sick system or by developing them at the expense of ones humanity.

For these reasons I can's accord conservative anti-Trumpers much real credit although I prefer them to the alternative.
