Whether you're planning on seeing the movie or not, listen to the soundtrack. This is a beautiful CD. It's done by Clint Mansell, and apparently Mogwai helped out on a few tracks as well, and it's really amazing.

Just finished the sountrack, and I'm at loss for words.

About half way through the soundtrack now, and it only gets better. This is my new favorite soundtrack...I'm just shocked as to how good of a job Clint did on this, though I shouldn't be surprised.

i plan to see the movie very soon, and the soundtrack is amazing as was expected.... something different from what I expected though... Requiem for a Dream draws you in emotionally, but through sheer power, something very similar to Romantic (as in romanticism) imagery, whereas The Fountain's soundtrack evokes emotion through beauty, almost soothing in nature except for a few key tracks that emphasize the power that Mansell does so well. still evokes emotion but in a completely different style it seems, yet its equally as brilliant.

Okay, I'll answer my own question. It's a score. This is the same composer that wrote the music for RfaD.

They're called "cues", not tracks. ;)

His stuff from Pi (same movie director, Darren Aronofsky sp) was also quite good. The director/composer relationship between the two rocks, at least insofar as the movie and the score flow like they sprang from the same mind.
