My 8 year old just came up positive for influenza B, had influenza A in January. The only good thing is he is a very healthy boy and bounced back very quickly last time hopefully the same this time.

The flu shot apparently did a lot of good this year.:\ Never heard of a kid getting it twice in a two month period.

or you will have numnuts saying Since he got the flu shot you can't get the flu (i got flamed for saying i got the flu even though i got teh flu shot like 3 years ago)

this site is insane when it comes to the flu

Don't forgot all those who will come out and say the flu shot doesn't work, never works, isn't worth it.. etc.. etc.. which will likely develop into some sort of vaccine flame war.

And yes, the flu sucks. :( I've been lucky and haven't had it since childhood.

My mom was sick for a whole month and nothing happened to me until just the other day. If I'm like her I'll be sick for a whole month too.

Tamiflu? There's no reason for someone with regular old influenze to take anti-viral drugs. There really isn't any evidence that they do much good.

Well, a child makes it a borderline indication, and maybe she has asthma or something which would make it a pretty clear indication.

In children, tamiflu can reduce the duration of the illness by about a day-day and a half, and reduce the incidence of acute otitis media as a complication.

More than enough reasons for me to suck it up and pay ichy, plus it's what her doctor wanted for her. who am I to tell the doctor no you're wrong in your diagnosis and treatment to prevent further complications? If anything happened to her I would never be able to forgive myself.....

You, sir, are a rarity these days.
