*Update: Sanders now suing the DNC*

Slimy move by the DNC despite the fact that they viewed info they shouldn't have due to a software error. I'm not surprised since Sanders is leading Clinton by 10 points in NH. This could kill Sanders' campaign.

At issue is a revelation that Sanders’ digital director Josh Uretsky – likely along with other staffers – took advantage of a software error this week by political data technology company NGP VAN that allowed them to see the voter file that contains vital information used by campaigns to identify and monitor voters and potential supporters.

The DNC’s punishment is a potentially crippling blow to the Vermont senator’s campaign: it means he temporarily loses access to critical voter data just weeks before voting is set to begin in Iowa and New Hampshire, where he is within striking distance of Clinton. Without access to the voter file, on-the-ground organizing will become far more difficult for Sanders.

What has ensued is a chaotic hurling of accusations among the DNC, Sanders’ campaign, and the technology company. It also has blown open a long-simmering dispute between the DNC and Clinton’s rival campaigns, who have long harbored resentments over the appearance that the organization was acting to boost the Democratic front-runner’s political fortunes. The controversy also comes on the eve of the third Democratic debate, which will largely be a showdown between Clinton and Sanders.

These are the type of people who we want to run our country? No thanks. What a shitshow, and I hope Sanders does sue the fuck out of DNC.

Nice move, but a lawsuit isn't going to make him president.
Yes, but more importantly what do you think of the slimy DNC denying him access to his own voter data? It's almost comical how badly the DNC wants hillary as their candidate that they would stoop this low to try and rub Sanders out in this manner.

Sure it's shady. But the government has been shady since its inception.

The DNC is not the government.

Personally I find it offensive that the DNC is playing games like this - it really does cast doubt on their neutrality in the primary process. Frankly, while I have been skeptical of Bernie's viability as a candidate on the national stage, I prefer him to Hillary, and I imagine many other Americans agree. Because we are, at least potentially, going into a general election in which Donald Trump will be either the GOP nominee or a third party candidate, there is a real chance that Bernie, if the Democratic nominee, could win. I'd like there to have been a full and fair Democratic primary season before the nomination is handed out, and I don't want the DNC meddling with it unfairly.

wtf kind of software errors cause them to have firewalls just go down randomly over a long period of time? I'm not a Sanders fan by any means and don't want to sound all "Clinton and her email servers", but if this is some kind of communal database, how are they expected not to access it? Like, is there a list of all these logs and a bunch of them say "FOR CLINTON'S EYES ONLY", or something? This legitimately sounds like a shady gotcha against her biggest opponent.

Meh, this will blow over by Monday. Sanders isn't a threat to Clinton and rocking the boat too much only serves to upset that. DWS is still the worst though and should step down or be removed.

Establishment is just making sure that the Clinton coronation goes as planned.

Bush will be making his comeback soon. The Bush/Clinton "Choice" will be here soon.

This is the kind of shit that can snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. Given how awful the Republican candidates are, this election pretty much gives it to the Dems. However, dicking around like this could change that.

I'm just glad I don't have to choose between these 2 pathetic excuses for political parties.

Agreed, I prefer Bernie to hillary. A shame that he could be disenfranchised like this, hopefully it will be resolved soon.

Did anyone really think this person would not find a way to destroy Bernie Sanders?

Hillary just lost 3 points in the national polls and Bernie is on top by a big margin in NH. Sounds like a political threat, must be extinguished...

If Bernie ever threatens Hillary in the polls, he will be next.

The claim that this is some sort of conspiracy to ensure that Hillary gets the nomination seems a bit silly.

She really doesn't need any help getting the nomination.

They pretty much are. They run the government and control who gets elected, just like anyone with money and power.

The DNC runs the government? What are you on about?

So what are you going to do about it? Shame them on the internet? Boycott them?

I wrote a note to Debbie Wasserman-Shultz. What else would you propose I do? I don't know what you're implying.

The fix was in months ago when it became apparent that hillary would be the democratic option and the republican options are also pre-picked with the only viable exception to this being trump. The rest are just party men already paid for. You'll have your facade of choice come election time but you're choosing who they already identified for you.

Your vote means nothing, sorry.

Don't believe me, don't care to read that link? Well, let's put it another way: Clinton is likely to be POTUS. That means four of the last five presidents will be an immediate family member to one of the others. But, go vote time, it matters, it really does. Your vote matters, the government works for you.

Apparently Sanders is leading Clinton in NH by 10 points, added that to OP. It's starting to make sense now.

No American HAS to choose between these 2 pathetic excuses for political parties. We can vote third party, as long as we are comfortable knowing our guy or girl has zero chance. And with missing an opportunity to vote against one or the other.

Seems awfully damned convenient that the DNC's servers just mysteriously tailed to keep separate the info they are designed to keep separate and as a consequence, the Hildabeast's biggest fan (who coincidentally is ultimately in charge of those servers) now has to cut off the Sanders team from even their own voters' information. Maybe the firewalling got wiped with a cloth?

I rather suspect that the Sanders campaign has their own set of voter lists making the whole episode a bit overblown.

The DNC makes the classic mistake of punishing the "guilty" rather than compensating the victim. It probably wouldn't take much to get both campaigns to allow open access for a period of time, thus providing the Clinton campaign with Bernie's list, compensation for what their contractor lost. It's the only thing that would really benefit the Clinton campaign at all, assuming that the Sanders campaign pilfered their list.

The Clinton campaign *is* the aggrieved party, are they not?

One thing we know from 2015 is that Republicans hate and despise their own party establishment. With this trying to rig the election for Hillary, democrats might end up hating and despising their own party establishment too.
