The First Shelby GT500 has been delivered

What's the price on these things? I have a 2006 GT and I'm wondering if it's cheaper to install the supercharger and other upgrades yourself.

It's quoted as $43K MSRP, but I'm hearing anywhere from $10k to $20k dealer markups!
You could get a Saleen supercharger for about $4.5k and pay $600 to have it installed...so I've heard.

Even at $43K, that's about $15k I'd have to spend on parts. Definitely cheaper to do it myself. Supercharger, CAI, pipes, etc. would probably be a max of $7K.

Bah so what.....I've been seeing the Shelby's around town for a year now...

It's nice to be 10 minutes away from Ford World HQ and proving/testing grounds

Sexy as hell and boy do they growl when the gas is punched

How much will the extra 800cc's run you?

Exactly. All that power just to move the car around. Ford's attempt at a racer in the new mustang is an absolute failure. Yes, I'm a mustang fanatic, too 🙁

I did read an article where they tested it up against the new Vette (a stock Vette at that too boot) and the Vette spanked it.

Yeah, their driver sucked donkey-balls..a freakin 12.9 run, wtf?!?. On that same track test day, another mag's driver got a 12.25 @ 117 mph, 4.3s 0-60 run out of the GT500.
