Noob question, this set is unmodded and completely digitally remastered right?

Completely remastered, but the movies featured are modified from their original theatrical presentation. The modifications include the 1997 "Special Edition" enhancements, plus some new ones that Lucas threw in to tie in the original trilogy with the prequel trilogy better.

I hate Star Wars, why anybody would spend $80 or whatever on a stupid box set is beyond me.

Where are you buying your DVD's?

Amazon

Spend a little more time around here...or get your sarcasm meter checked 😉

Wow, you guys spread it on thin, what is it "I can't believe its not sarcasm?"

Sorry I didn't pick up on it.

As stated, I already have Star Wars on DVD and have for about 8 months or more now. They will suffice until the ultimate sextilogy is released in a few years.

No Offense, But I like IGN's review of movies better.

Star Wars Review

even though I said it shouldn't be reviewed, IGN did a good job of talking about the issues people have with the special edition.

I still think Jedi gets a bad wrap.

I can't wait for this to come out just so I can watch the whole series again. I never did that when they were on VHS or LaserDisc. It's driving me crazy too cause they keep showing commercials about it releasing. 😀

For those of us with higher end HT setups, there are NO DVD copies out there that will look anywhere near as good on our big screens as this new set.

The majority of Star Wars Trilogy DVDs out now are mastered from the laser disc versions and are non-anamorphic. Meaning they display at a much lower resolution on wide screen displays.

In short, there will be NO comparison in video and audio quality.

Those of you with small 4:3 displays may not care. But for those of us with large 16:9 displays, this new set will look so much better that the bootlegged DVDs that it's more than worth it to buy the new set.

Can't wait for this! My wife and I pre-ordered it with one of the Target gift cards we got as a wedding present.

is it true that they threw Hayden into the last scene (Vader/Yoda/Kanobi ghosts) as Darth Vader?

I saw a screen cap of it, but I'm hoping is was a photoshop.

you will never see those originals again...
george was not happy with them... he is a perfectionist so they are prolly locked deep deep in his vault somewhere.
SE might as well stand for Standard Edition becasue acording to GL this is how he saw the movies in his mind when he filmed them.. but technology was not available at the time.
REAL fans already have the originals on DVD. 😉

BTW, can we get a "middle finger" emotion so I can put it infront of Lucas's name?

REAL fans need to get a life.

MORE sh!t was added? Lucas is off his rocker big time. Has he no respect for the films that he created and the fans that follow them? I respect and understand his "vision" and that these are the way he saw them but why not have addons to the originals versus change the originals forever. What would he say if classics he loved were tocuhed up and such? Man hes nuts... erased eyebrows? WTF is that?

Who knows with Lucas. You know when the HD-DVD format matures he'll have more changes over these changes. Once #3 comes out he'll have to do more changing to tie up his loose ends...and if he does 7, 8 and 9...well who knows...
