Yes I am what you would consider an audiophile. With over 1.1M invested over the years in recording and playback equipment, I just cannot see that point in this. The computer is your source. The source of the sound (16bit 44.1 is quite horrible by any audiophile standards) should be as accurate as possible. Tubes are anything but accurate. Your source should be as uncoloured as possible! Yes if you like the warm sound of tubes, fine. Purchase a true high end tube amplifier! The computer is a source...how many turntables, recorders, <cough> cd players <cough> do you see with tubes?
Audio aspect aside, the vacuum tube has no place in a computer enclosure. It's a source of a plethora of potential problems due to their power supply needs! This is pure marketing gimmick. I'm amazed that people buy this crap. Then again why should I be when the "world's best online service" has over 20 million members!
Cheers!
