The fighting genre...

...is lacking, actually it is missing entirely. Where are the Tekkens, and Street Fighters? I know SFIV is right around the corner but it sure did take a while to get to that corner. I don't remember having to wait this long for a decent fighting game to come along to consoles. Previous generations had fighting games relatively close to their launch from what I can remember - PS1 had Street Fighter Alpha, Dreamcast had Marvel vs. Streetfighter, PS2 had Tekken Tag. Fighting games have loyal followings so you would think developers would try to capitalize on it but I guess shooters are where it's at. With that said, I can't wait to bring home some fighting games and whoop some ass.

EDIT: I was actually mistaken, Virtua Fighter 5 did come out for the 360/PS3 pretty early on. Also I don't count DoA4 as a fighting game; well at least a good one - sorry.

Fighting genre is coming back in a big way.

SF4 is going to be huge. collectors editions are actually sold out most places. 150 dollar arcade sticks are sold out and it looks like now the standard sticks are selling out.

Tekken 6 will be released on console later this year.

KOF12 will be later this year or early next year.

BlazBlue will be on at least one of the 2 consoles by early next year.

Taatsunoko vs. Capcom is good and came out this year
VF5 is out and awesome
ST2 HDR is out and is awesome
Battle Fantasia is good I hear but never played it and it didn't sell well.
Soul Calibur 4 is good

Yes DOA and MK suck but there is alot out and coming out. Probably as much as ever.

At least every major franchise has at least 1 game out, or will this year. It's not as often as they used to, but in all honesty the fighting genre is better when it's not saturated w/ bullshit tie in games.
