The Fax Service cannot send faxes because no devices are configured for send.

Fax Service

The Fax Service cannot send faxes because no devices are configured for send. To configure a device to send faxes, use the Fax Service Management tool located on the Start menu under Programs\Accessories\Communications\Fax.

OK

What can I do? When I go to the described configuration utility I don't see any devices that I can configure for fax. I see no facility to add one. There IS an internal modem. The Fax Service is configured to be "manual." I thought that's appropriate. That's what Black Viper says to do. Thanks for any help.

What device are you trying to send faxes through? Is its driver installed?

I'm not trying to fax from the machine at all. I do all my faxing from my other machine. Maybe I should disable the Fax service. The messages keep popping up every couple of minutes and are playing havoc with my computing and my nerves. I've gone into Windows help, trying to trouble shoot the problem and every time I've gotten nowhere. In fact I don't remember a single time when the Windows Help trouble shooter helped me in the least. I think it's a total waste of time to use it. I'm always hopeful and am disappointed EVERY time. Windows Help can work, you betcha, but the troubleshooter is a complete waste of time, at least for me. So far... 🙂

I'd just go ahead and disable the service then. Are you using something like an HP all-in-one printer? Sounds like its fax software is begging for config.

I'm not using anything like that. It's a mystery to me. Guess I'll do a Google search and see what I can come up with.

I'm not using anything like that. Winfax Basic is installed but it seems to be configured fine. I can't figure it out. There's absolutely no way to add a device in the Fax Service Management utility. I've poked around in it and Windows 2000's typically complex branching help system and there's nothing. It's an absolute dead end. I guess I'll disable the service. I think I'm due for a fresh install of Windows 2000 on that machine!
