ways to backup your hd? I got 400 GB on hd not backed up and i'm worried that one of these day, its going to die and take all the data along with it. Why wait until it happen then go throught these emotional pain of data lost and frustration?

Well, I don't really understand your question.. Are you looking for hardware or software advice? Hardware - DVD-R (cheap per disk) or DVD-Ram (reasonable and since the disks are in little caddies they're a bit more secure).. Ummm.. Oh yeah, 400 gbs is a lot- I get annoyed swapping dvd's when backing up 40 gbs.. I haven't kept track of the tape drive market but that's another option.. I wish CastleWood was around - their orb drives were great (though they weren't very reliable)..

By the way - do you really have 400 gigs worth of stuff that you REALLY have to back up? I used to be extra careful and back up my ENTIRE drive for a while until I got organized - I partitioned my drive into a SYSTEM drive, APPLICATIONS drive, DOCUMENTS drive and DOWNLOADS (mp3s) drive.. I made sure to organize all of my files accordingly and life is now much easier.. Now my documents drive EASILY fits on one cd-r and while I only archive the mp3s that I added to my drive since my last back up (usually not more than one dvd-r).. I don't worry about the applications and system drives because I can easily reinstall the software in the event of a crash.. I really don't understand why people prefer to back up their entire drive(s)- waste of space and time..

400GB huh..I would like to see the look on your face if one of your drives died:evil:
For something like that a dvd burner would probably be your friend...
