Apparently restaurants & businesses being closed has hit them hard. The uncertainty of when things get back to normal makes planning impossible.
Lately I’ve been saying fuck the farmers & miners because they continually shoot themselves in the dick but this is different. They didn’t shoot themselves like they’ve been doing for the last 40 years.
Chuck & Nancy should put together a bill to buy a set amount of farm goods. Use it for low income folks or crap let it rot but do something. Also when the usual suspects call it a give away make that known.

So people won't eat if they can't eat at a restaurant?

It wouldn't surprise me if someone told me people are much more efficient buying ingredients and making food, than restaurants are, due to food waste. How often do you see half-eaten plates of food left on the table? Not to mention old ingredients tossed from the kitchen.

Seems more like a supply chain issue and homes use food more efficiently (I suspect). Farmers who have made their business model be one of supplying big companies that resell to other businesses vs supplying direct to customer.

Yea, different supply chains. When I hear that term, apparently they are like chains, you can no longer be free of them I guess.

Maybe Trump should have sent money here instead of to Kanye and hedge fund companies.

Seriously, the orange menace is batting 1000, failing at pretty much every possible step. I mean, a broken clock and all that, how can he be this wrong so consistently?

I think Subway and Chipotle are trialing selling the base ingredients direct to people, and I know other restaurants were doing stuff like that where they'd sell ingredients directly to people (but that was to clear out the stock they had when they lost business so that they could recoup some of the cost and not let it go to waste, so I doubt many of them are still doing it).

Meh they get what they voted for. I'm not getting bailed out and I'm not the one responsible for putting our Dear Leader into office.
You assume every farmer voted for Trump and that's not necessarily true.
Some of them are not religiously devoted to Fox News and the White Peoples Party. Some of them actually work for a living and could see that Donald was a useless liar who takes credit for all success and blames everyone else for failures. The average farmer would not support such a man.

Besides which, the government loves bailing out farmers even though they repeatedly fail because so many of them do not understand economics and thats probably what will happen again this year or next year regardless of who is in office.

Why are they any more special than others? You think farmers have it bad? Check out the trade show/live events industry they got annihilated.

It's undeniable a great majority of them voted for Trump. They get what they voted for and I don't give a fuck. We all suffer because of them, we're dying by the hundreds of thousands because as a whole they don't like Mexicans and blacks and got a hard on for the conman who promised retribution against the scary minorities. Fuck the farmers. We don't get a bailout? Fuck them they don't either.

Really good observation.

What? They're STILL shooting themselves in the dick. Have you been watching any of the interviews that various news organizations have been doing with those idiots?

Clearly, about 90% of them are saying things like "yeah, I'm not real happy with the president right now, BUT I WOULD VOTE FOR HIM AGAIN. If the coronavirus is really "thinning the herd" it still has a little work to put in as regards to the farming community.

Bloomberg could put his millions where his mouth were, buy up some of this stuff with a nice "Biden approves of this message" ... something. BUT ONLY IF THEY KISS THE RING. And send their daughters on a date with Roy Moore.
