Arrrrrgh!

I freelance and most of my work is done for an Australian magazine. I just got a check for $200A... which turns out to be $103 in US. This is the worst it has been in quite some time! Yet I don't really feel like I can complain... after all, I am getting paid to write, so what more could I possibly want?

It feels like I am throwing a cashmere sweater in the dryer, time after time...

Anyone else get paid in a different currency from your country of citizenship?

I don't mind the exchange rates...I get much more bang for the buck when ordering mail order brides.

Isla, maybe you're not charging what you're worth. ;) Time to raise the ol' prices.

I have the opposite, Isla. My husband's Canadian, and I'm American and we're living in Ohio. He still has a car loan and a student loan that come directly out of his Canadian bank account. We send checks to his parents to deposit into his acocunt, and whatever we send practically doubles when it's converted :D I can't complain hehehe.

You could also have fun with exchange rates. During WWII, I think the exchange rate for USA/Germany was $1.00/21,000,000,000,000 Doichmark (I doubt it's spelled right, but the German currency). I'm dead serious about that, it was in my social studies book, so if you could get a dollar or two changed back then, you could laugh at Bill Gates and his ghetto self.

Well, who wants to be a millionaire - ten times over? If you had one of these notes from Turkey, you could be!

Of course, it's only worth $15 USD, though.
