Did she fill the check out as herself...or as OP?

Man...I'd be ballistic if I were OP. And it looks like there's not a single legal thing to do about it.

I don't understand how people could just be so foolish when it comes to money... I'm married and we still have separate accounts... I will NEVER GET BURNED... hopefully you will learn from your mistakes. Go watch Judge Judy... People aren't nice. Have the sense to protect yourself.

cancel the phone, eat the early cancellation fee
close the joint bank account, and open a new one with just you on it. destroy all the old checks.
sell the car. if there's any profit from it, subtract what was taken from the account, and give her half.

do this all quickly before you get screwed further.
Do all of this, but close the bank account TODAY, RIGHT FVCKING NOW.

You can still sell the car with two people's names on it. Meaning SHE CAN DO THE SAME.

You need to get your name off the car, but that's going to require HER help in signing whatever new paperwork, can't count on that. The only solution is to "steal" the car back, god I hope you have keys, and sell it ASAP.

Do you have rocks in your head? Why on earth would you finance a car in your name for someone you aren't married to?

Bet you don't make that mistake again huh?

the ex gf today left me with her cell phone. We're on a family plan and its under my name, so I have to pay for this extra stupid phone.

i'm also the primary owner of her car. I told her earlier that she needs to get it refinanced to get my name off, and in the meantime if she misses any payments I will come take it. She took my key today when I wasn't looking.

She then took one of my checks (her name is still on it, waiting for the new ones to arrive), and writes it to herself for cash so i now have about $20 in my account

its funny how someone you thought you knew so well can change on you in a heartbeat

Report the car as stolen. Tell her you'll drop the charges under the condition that she repays you. Tell her if he gets her own cell phone you'll consider giving the car back. :)

her name is also on the registration/title, but i am considered the "primary owner"

Do you have an 'AND' or 'OR' title? Meaning do both of you agree to sell it or either one of you.

I really want to feel sorry for you, but you asked for everything you got.

Its a shame, but in this world you cannot trust women. I have met more women who would marry for money then women who would marry for love. This is not a good thing, especially when the women have all of the power in court. I can only hope you learn from being such a dumba$$, and make sure that you get a pre-nup if you ever get married. You strike me as the kind of guy that probably lets women walk all over him.

Dude - you're just asking for it by putting all of that stuff under your name.
