The Evil of Best Buy

Modeps

Lifer
Can someone please explain to me WHY they're evil? I go in there all the time. I have NEVER (knock wood) had a problem with anything they've done (other than advertising the after rebate price). Their selection is good, they usually have DVDs on sale the first week they come out... Example: I dont find Best Buy bad because they arrested some dude for paying with $2 bills, that's to be blamed on idiot workers.

What's so terrible? And dont link me to long arse threads, just summarize.

I dont think they're that bad but they just have stoopid policy.. plus you can find better deal on internet so they're not always the best buy you can get..

I never had a problem with Bestbuy either.
I don't rely on rebates, i always keep my receipt and if the device is not working in less than a week it goes back to store and i never had a problem.

Hell, they almost treated me like a criminal just for exchanging a defective item for working one.

Also, I don't like how they got the city of Richfield to use eminent domain to evict an entire working-class neighborhood and several long-standing businesses in order to build their ugly, traffic jam-causing new corporate headquarters. They claimed the neighborhood was "blighted," but in truth, it was in pretty similar condition as the anywhere else in that city. They even got the local media on their side, who went along with the "blighted" description.

Admittedly, the neighborhood was starting to look a little worse for wear toward the end of the years-long battle, but, well, duh! What do you expect? Would you spend money on improvements and upkeep when you're fighting what looks like a losing battle to keep your property?

like myself, it's mostly those who want the dirt-cheap, lowest prise, best deal that go through all the best options to purchase something at the best price that BestBuy has issues with. With that said, WorstBuy tends to give us the cold shoulder with their loosly knit terms and conditions. hence the h8.

WINNER!!!!

I have had equally good and bad experiences at both Best Buy and Circuit City. I've had even worse experiences at locally owned AV/electronic shops.

BB has become a target just as Walmart, MS, AOL and the US itself has become.

For some reason, anytime something becomes popular or #1, it becomes a popular target. It also becomes fodder for those who are too cool to like anything popular.

Agreed. And the old hag at the return counter was looking like she needed to break out the "Best Buy Customer Appreciation Anal Probe" on me a couple times for the same thing.

It's, like, <25 years old (at the time) + male + into technology = enemy. Which, you'd think, for Best Buy, would not be a good formula to teach their employees, but, there ya go....

They are "non commission" but that only applies to the sales drones, the managers get bonuses and prizes and trips so they dump on the retarded teens to sell service plans no matter what.

I will agree with you on the DVD comments. On Sundays some times, they have some pretty decent deals on movies.

A friendly "No thanks" works wonders in situation you described. Retail outfits try to upsell, thats just the nature of their business. If you can't politely refuse a sales pitch from a BB drone then you're going to get eaten alive by real salesmen the first time you try to buy a car or house.

Go there on Black Friday. In fact, wait in line early for one of their crazy deals. You'll soon find out.

Better yet, next time you want to buy something there, order it online and pick it up at the store. BUAHAHAHAHA.
