A strange way to start this off but here goes...

In the Matrix, Smith wants to be gone from the matrix. He knows that the only reason he is there is because of Neo and once Neo is gone he has no reason to be there either.

The matrix is digital, Smith is digital and once Neo is gone, so will Smith. Smith doesn't exist at all without the matrix.

In my mind it would seem that either Smith doesn't want to exist at all, or he somehow thinks there is something beyond his own digital existance.

..... (that was just a random thought).......

Now, when I look at everything in this universe all I see is an infinite amount of time and space and we are basically living out our lives. There doesn't appear to be any meaning to our existance. Maybe we could travel to every single planet and star and rule over the entire universe. Then what? What is ultimately accomplished? Nothing really... we are still just living out our existance as time passes.

It seems beyond my comprehension how we can exist without any type of purpose. Why would anything exist just for the sake of existing? In all mathematical equations, everything is simplified and reduced. in an equation of x=1+(-1), x=0 and the equation just disappears. It doesn't exist.

So why do we exist?

That's my late night rambling for the day...

Beyond comprehension? Just because you can think of the question "do we have a purpose?", it does not logically follow that there must be one.

well, one philosophy says that god created the world and humanity to know himself,if you really want an answer.
i mean if the world has a purpose you have to assume a god otherwise everything is pretty much worthless.

If logic follows a purpose? If every number follows a purpose? If every movement follows a purpose? Obviosly its an insane thought to think that time and place just popped out of absolute nothing. Space itself is something. It covers dimensions, has colours, energy...and a purpose. We cannot live without time or without space...We can only understand what we can see, feel, hear, smell and taste...What exists but its features donot enable it to be seen, felt, touched, tasted or smelled, cannot be imagined by man let alone understood. There is no reason why it doesnt exist. Same with purpose. It cannot be felt, seen, touched, smelled, tasted...We simply cannot understand the purpose of the existence of man. If evolution is a fact what is man evoloving towards? Towards a time? Without a purpose, evolution makes no sense. Existence of man makes no sense. Why arent there more races close to ours if there was no "purpose"...Why is there only the human race that has intelligence? Millions of years since life spawned, why only one intelligence species during that time, why SO different routes of evolution? Purpose of man will only be understood by those who have knowledge of outside our five senses....Same with time...Purpose and time are inter-related. Time only helps us to reach towards our goal..towards our purpose.

i have to say, and i dont want to be a troll, but this isnt highly technical....i used to think to myself about this forum "its slow in here, i wish people would discuss something interesting" because im interested in learning something and looked in here to see what there was i didnt know.

now its a bit busier, but its not technically interesting to discuss philosophy or religion....or hardware troubleshooting while im at it; which still winds up in here twice a week despite a sticky and a tech support forum
