I was positing on life after being over-run with illegals... well we have a test-case for this, it is called the Rio-Grande Valley (McAllen, Edinburg, Mission, Pharr...)
Nearly half of the population being first or zeroth generation American.

It is hard for my brother to find a job because he doesn't speak Spanish. Follow me here, it isn't that service oriented jobs require that he speaks Spanish, but even jobs that have no good reason to require Spanish speaking.
The reason? You have to be able to work with your co-workers. Many of whom don't speak english AND are legal US citizens.
On the plus side, the Mexican culture values not aspiring to a higher level than your parents did. We also have the highest per capita conviction rate of politicians, it is the natural state of the culture to give to friends and family.
It isn't so bad though... the average IQ is about 15pts below median and the cost of living is incredibly low, we have a per-capita income below 12k in my city.. but the I live in a 'university town' so those 1,100 professors off-set that a bit. The Fajita platters are great and despite being 300lbs I can often find people much more corpulent than I am walking around wall mart.
We are also well known for having the 'best' payouts in the nation when it comes to medical punitive damages; for example, the phen-phen/vioxx case was broken here because the first set of damages sets the tenor for the rest of the damages.
I think the only reason the Mexican drug lords don't run rough-shot over our local law enforcement is that people in Texas have guns and shoot back.
