The end of the road (or the beginning)

Part II

Well, I believe my journey is at its end.

I went to Carmax on Saturday to get their apprasial on my M3. While I was waiting, i browsed their showroom, and right in the middle, as their "Featured Car of the Week" offering they had a 2004 Volkswagon Touareg. Steel blue grey exterior. Teak brown leather interior. Walnut and aluminum trim styles on the inside. 4x4. It was sweet. It only had 19,000 miles on it and looked brand new. Two years left on the original VW warrenty and Carmax offered an additional 75,000 mile warrenty.

The only options it doesn't have is the Air Spring suspension and the phone integration (bluetooth). That kind of sucks. But i got a killer deal on it. It was 31K. Thats like 10K under KBB. According to KBB i can TRADE IN the car for 38 (it is in perfect condition).

What do you guys think? SHould I keep it (I have 5 days to return it or I can trade it in) Its less than the 4Runner w/ cloth interior and everything.

Well, i hope you guys are happy for me, but I'm putting up a poll because everyone likes a poll.

I dunno... I have a thing against owning a car whose name I can't pronounce. WTF is a tourgeoag anyways?

If ya like it though... then I think you'll already know the answer.

Sounds like you got a nice deal on the VW. Pics?

I have my cell phone camera which is a piece of poop that I could use now or I can wait until tonight with my real camera. Which do u want?

Go visit any Toureg owner forum - delight yourself in the horror stories of crappy craftmanship and VW's inept reliability. The Toureg should be renamed "Turd".

I hope you like knowing your service writer by first name, you're going to see alot of them.

Do you know which forums are good?

Ok, now i'm really nervous. I guess the Touaregs really do have a lot of problems and I dont know what to do. They seem so much nicer than the 4runner i was looking at but who wants a car with a ton of problems????

What should I do??!???

I'm a patient man. I can wait for the good ones. 🙂

They are nicer than 4runners, they are a luxury suv. However, VW can make a crappy car look good. Its like dating a hot chick and finding out that she has mental issues, and likes sharp objects etc. Will you have problems with your Toureg? Absolutely. Will you look good while doing it? Of course.

I'd go for a 4Runner for its Toyota reliability.

BTW Did you get a good trade-in price for the M3?

I ended up not trading it in but selling it. They got a good deal and I got more than the dealership would have given me so everyone is happy.

I totally agree on the Toyota reliability, especially on the 4Runner model. I never expected the vw to be so luxurious though and it is intoxicating.

I still can't make up my mind! I went to VW and the service guy said, "yea they have some problems, but mostly electrical. If you like the car just keep it" then i went to my old BMW mechanic (independent) and asked him what he thought and he pretty much said the same thing. Its got some problems but drive it for a couple years. It just feels like thats easy for them to say, you know?

Gee, a VW with an electrical problem?

That's about like a stripper with a crack habit.

If you like it & are willing to put up with it spending time in the shop keep it until the VW warranty expires.

Viper GTS

Why go through the hassle for an overpriced grocery getter with horrible gas mileage and a ton of problems? Get a station wagon Nancy

😛

I kept the VW...too late to steer clear. Its really nice and great offroading. The only other Luxury SUVs that would be good offroading would be the Lexus GX and the Land Rovers. Both were too expensive even used.
