Out of all the winners, I think only Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood really hit it big. I remembered they tried a Canadian spinoff but it's been cancelled for some time now. The only person to even become remotely famous from that one was Carly Rae Jepsen, and she was eliminated.

I think that Scottie dude from 2 seasons ago already has a platinum album. But, you know...country. plenty of dumb fans will listen to any of that.

That's what the hype was going into the show. However I knew this to be untrue before hand.

Watching the show, I was validated. Unless it farts, is half naked or is otherwise crude, it's not "talented" according to Stern history of judging from this season of AGT so far. Which will be completely evident as he will be bringing back the idiot who's "talent" is getting smashed in the nuts. Repeatedly. How the hell do you possibly make an entertaining hour-long daily run Vegas show out of that?

I read that with GR's accent in my head and it was perfect. Especially the donkey part.
 
I don't support Nicki Minaj. Horrible possible choice.

I like the other possibilities much better. Brad Paisley or Keith Urban (for the country watchers), Enrique Iglesias (not as bad of a choice as Minaj), Pharrel (come on, this would be perfect.)

I wanted LL Cool J. I think they needed a R&B/Hip Hop influence. But NOT Nicki Minaj.

That was BRILLIANT! 😀 I'm not necessarily a GR fan because I don't watch those shows, but I've seen enough that I can imagine him saying something like that.

The problem with AI is that none of the judges remaining have the guts to call it like it is. This is the result of the pussification of Americans. These days every kid in Little League is a winner and gets a trophy to take home. Online social networking is full of people who pat each others backs. Someone posts on FB whining about feeling sad, and within minutes dozens of replies of support and e-love ensues.

When I grew up, you got a trophy only if you WON. If you lost, you congratulated the winner, and vowed to work harder for next time.

I think it all started with parents losing the right to discipline their children, followed by feminists who tell everyone (well, every women and girl) that they can "have it all."

You know what? No, you CAN'T have it all. You CAN'T always be a winner. That's how the real world works, even if it isn't like that in the make-believe worlds that some people seem to live in.

I heard on the radio this morning that they'll be adding Kanye West to the judging panel pending how big of a check the AI bosses writes to Kanye.

I think Nicki will do fine. In reality she is a very likeable and soft spoken woman. To hear some of her music and see her in interviews, she clearly has a different attitude when making a record. I thnk she'll be okay and she is a very unique talent as far as judges so far go. I have never watched one episode of AI though and still won't, but I think she'll be decent in this spot.

I really like the addition of Mariah. They needed someone who has been VERY successful but isn't 100% loopy (cough Paula.) When Mariah mentored on Season 7, she was great.

I feel like AI is trying to win an arms race, with these "leaks" of people they've approached to be a judge, against The Voice. They can find quality artists without going crazy.

I've always loved the idea of having Shania Twain on the panel - she was great in her previous stint as a mentor AND as a guest judge, but with Mariah that has blown that idea out of the water.

I really like the idea of a Brad Paisley/Keith Urban, Mariah, Pharrell and another female. I really wanted Lambert (I LOVE the idea of a previous contestant coming back to judge, but my preference would have been Kelly Clarkson) but if you're going to go Male Country Artist plus Male R&B/Hip Hop, you need a female to balance the panel out. (Hopefully this means the end of Randy.)

When Simon left, I thought I was over AI, but when they brought on J-Lo and Steven, I continued watching, even when Steven went into "I can't criticize anyone" mode. I just want them to dish out real criticism and advice, and the one loopy judge to say "you look great tonight. Just fabulous. That's all" since that's how you know they sucked.

My sentiments exactly.

Mariah will be OK... but Minag is an insult to the music industry.
She can't sing, at all, and should not be judging a singing competition.
I would give her opinion zero credit because she is too young and not successful enough.
