It’s official: Asia’s just ran out of IPv4 Addresses
Well, that was fast. The Asia Pacific Network Information Centre (APNIC) has just released the last block of Internet Protocol version 4 (IPv4) addresses in its available pool. We knew this was coming when the Internet Corporation For Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) and the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA http://www.iana.org/) announced in February that the last of the world’s remaining IPv4 blocks had been assigned to the Regional Internet Registries (RIR). What we didn’t know was that APNIC would run out quickly. I, and most other people, thought that its supply of IPv4 addresses would last until at least early summer. We were wrong.
Now we can finally get on with IPv6.:D

there is so much hardware out there that is not optimized for ipv6 (aka ipv4 in hardware, ipv6 in software). It's gonna get ugly. and man DHCP ipv6 :) wow not sure what to say there. This is going to get ugly fast.

Maybe AT should post a sticky faq for IPV6 migration since it will be a long dirty journey.

APNIC's announcement says that they are now carving up the last /8, and that every current APNIC member is entitled to a rationed /22 from that block if they can justify the need. That is not even close to being the same thing as saying that they "just run out of IPv4 Addresses."

There are a lot of people who really love the story that the sky is falling and it's doomsday and so forth, and I am quite impressed by how flexible they are willing to be with the truth in order to support that headline.

Even when we run out of virgin IPv4 address space by the end of this calendar year, that just means that we are moving to a new phase of dealing with the long-term exhaustion problem.

Yes, that's exactly the same thing as running out of IPv4 addresses. There are no more addresses that can be allocated to clients, period. The /22s are reserved for ISPs to use for transition equipment in their core networks.
