if I download some songs from an artist and like it, I 99% of the time go out and buy the CD's from them. if I don't like it, I delete it and that is that. 99% of the music on my system is paid for. this discourages copy protection as you show that once downloading songs, your willing to pay for the "art" (Quoted for argument on the term). however I refuse to buy Copy protected CD's, and will think twice about buying CD's from companies who implement copy protection on their other products as I belive it is in violation of the Copyright act which gives you the allowace (I want to avoid using the word "Right") to create one archival/backup copy of purchesed works. I also will not buy "digital media" such as downloadable propriatary formats that cannot be copied to CD for portiblity, I also fear one day that I would pay for and download a work in digital format loose my copy of said work say via a virus or a hard drive format where I forget to backup that directory, and have the digital media supplier go out of buisness or not reallowing me to download the media.
