I got a letter in the mail today saying I needed to pay a deposit of $150 to make my account permanent. The thing is that I've had an account with them for seven years that has never been late or delinquent. So I called them and they waived it right away without me having to do nothing but mention it. I think they just wanted to see if they could get some money out of me, bastards.

Anyone else have these magical charges added to your bill for no reason?

Comcast is doing that to me right now with an $80 activation fee. Oh boy are they going to hear from me tonight!

incidentally, summer tends to be the months where you use more electricity!! I wouldn't exactly call that price gouging if all you did was use more of it!!

Hopefully they'll just drop it like Excel Energy did here. I was about to rip into them, and tell them they have my deposit from years and years ago, when she just said, "Oh let me waive that for you." They just wanted to see if I was paying attention.

I had an extra digit added to my kWh one month to give me over 10,000 kWh for a 2 bedroom apt. in the summer. I nearly crapped my pants when I saw that bill. They agreed it was an error and removed the charge after I argued for a few minutes.

Until I got to the part where I saw you called them and they waived it, I assumed it was a scam like I heard about on the news here the other day.

Some scammer sent out letters to a bunch of people saying that the mailing address for the electric/gas company had changed and that everyone should go to a 5/3rd Bank and deposit the money to pay their latest bill there into a special account.

Yeah I'd of sniffed that one out quicker than the one I got.

Bad thing is if you lived in a house, esp one with a basement, that would be enough to get a warrent to search your house top to bottom. Using way to much power for that size place is usually a sign that you are running lamps for weed.

Mind you they usually wait to see if your bill does that for 2-3 months beofre it sends up a red flag.

I had that a couple years ago. I was supposed to be 3254 and they bill said 32549, so I received a bill for $149,616. That made my day.
