If you've played both, please tell me which you think is best and if you don't mind, why.

(If you've only played one or the other please hold comments, thank you)

Also, I dont think its possible to pick two more opposite games.

Thats like asking if people prefer sex & weed versus sweat & tears.

Yeah I have both and they are totally different. If you could only buy one base it on:

A) One is a high quality single player game in which you can play for 100s of hours. There's only a single cost of $60 right now.

B) The other game is an online version of KOTOR (it really is). You can also play for 100s of hours, however, the cost is an initial $60 plus an additional $15 per month.

If money is no issue, get and enjoy both. Problem solved.

Daggerfall or UO?
Morrowind or SWG?
Oblivion or WoW?

Personally I don't think there's much common between the games, so they're not really comparable and can't be an "either or" choice.

If you can get only one, get Skyrim (because I hate MMOs).

Oh, I have an answer. Get the MMO now cuz people are rushing to play it and theres sort of a community. When it dies in a year you will have had some good fun.
Then jump on Skyrim cuz it will be cheaper and they will have fixed most of the bugs. Also the really good user mods will be well established.

i havent played skyrim, although the game looks amazing. and people who have played it rave about it. my guess is that your answer really lies in whether you want to play a single player amazing rpg game. or play an amazing mmorpg game. (taking into consideration cost, ofc.)

if i wasnt already playing swtor, and bf3 and had like 20 other games backlogged, i would probably want to check out skyrim. but i prefer gaming with my friends to gaming alone. so it was SWTOR for me.

I canceled my WoW account back in the spring. I tend to not play MMO's during the summer, preferring to go outside and such.

I faced the same choice as you. I was going to buy one and only one. I went with SW;TOR. First off, I like the Star Wars setting. Secondly, Bioware makes fantastic games as far as story is concerned and I wanted to see the implementation in an MMO.

With Skyrim you can get "the same thing" by going with Oblivion or Morrowind. Skyrim isnt the first int he series. I already own Oblivion and Morrowind.

So the choice was easy for me, and I do not regret getting SW:TOR. If I had nothing I would get SW:TOR and Oblivion and download some of the Oblivion mods.

Really though the games are so different its hard to give a line by line comparison of the games and then make a judgement. It really has to do more with the playstyle you like. If you dont like MMO's Skyrim becomes an obvious choice. If you like mulitplayer games and/or the Star Wars universe SW;TOR becomes an obvious choice.

My thoughts.

Everyone knows UO was better than Daggerfall. Sorry, but that is the truth. There is no either or. It is you got both or you just got UO.

I would go for TOR, though I'm hearing horror stories about queue times.

I'm a west coast player on an east coast server playing late at night (my time) so I never have queues

i also never have <50ms latency :(

This thread is irrelevant...

One is an RPG

The other one is an MMORPG

Names might sound alike, but they're completely different monsters, period.

SWTOR.

Why? It will last me much longer than Skyrim.

Skyrim was too easy. I made a light armor wearing lightning destruction specialist with infinite mana and was 4-5 shotting dragons before they got to land.

I made a light armor wearing sneak archer and 4-5 shotted dragons before they land.

I made a heavy armor wearing dual wielding warrior tank and was 4-5 shotting dragons when they land.

Why?

Star Wars because it's an MMO and you don't want to get left behind. Skyrim you can play at any time, wait for the bugs to get patched and for the GOTY Edition with all the DLC.

Gee kind of annoying to get ready to post a comment and then find out you only want people who played both games to comment. So I wont comment, except to say that I saw TOR on the shelf at target last night and it is still there as far as I know, while Skyrim was a pre-order for me.

Skyrim is a good game, maybe not great.

TOR isn't even a good game, IMO. I think it is pretty shoddy.

SWTOR. Skyrim, while great, is single player, and too easy. I got all this fancy stuff, and the only thing i can do with it is kill NPCs. In SWTOR, you get to kill other people. Much more gratifying :p
