I can't imagine that it would upset people to know how this film ends but I'll put the alert up there anyway...

I just finished watching this film on Netflix. In the late 90s I remember going to see the film when it was in theaters and thought what an awesome movie it was, until the end.

So, ideally, the film would have ended after Morse and Green kill the man eater, put on their bear costumes and find the hunter's cabin. The film should end with them floating down the river in the canoe with the vacation cabin in the distance, showing they "made" it. OR another good ending would be Morse not going back, like the fantasized about and having the film end with Green returning by himself and explaining the Morse had been killed or something to that effect.

Instead they fowled it up with the execution scene that never felt real - I never felt the danger for Morse. I know they wanted to explore the infidelity thing but in my mind, the bond the two men had over the experience with the man eater would resolve that conflict as simply not being important anymore, as they were really just fighting over a dime a dozen bimbo who only ever liked either of them for their money/power.

Overall it's still an awesome flick, but it could have been better. Right after the plane crashes Morse is underwater saving Stephen while Green saves himself. In that shot Morse grabs a bag of supplies but leaves the sawed off double barrel shotgun behind... but seemingly he had the time and the means to grab both. How would the story have changed if they had the shotgun from the get go? It still would have been an adventure to get out alive even if they were able to kill the man eater from the get go.

Overall, awesome flick.
