This, I don't need some ridiculous term that sounds like a sex act in order to look in my mirror at approaching traffic before opening my door into it, which I already do.

As someone who used to cycle a lot - yes, and even dumber. I simply gave up on trusting motorists when riding.

And that's excluding ppl who drive up on you real fast and then slam on the brakes - because scaring the shit out of somebody getting some exercise is fun, or throwing beer cans/bottle at you, running you off the road, etc.
