Well, I did a search but kept getting back unreleated post or unanswered to the question of:

if I build a rig around:

amd 64 X2 4400
2x eVGA 7800GTX KO
2x Dell 2005

what do i benefit?
What do i benefit with 2 graphic cards to begin with?
Can I set each card for each monitor?

or am I better off going 1 eVGA 7800 GTX KO and a dell 2405?

or 1 7800 gtx ko and 2 dell 2005?

I dont know how the relationship of dual vid card and dual monitor works.
ty, one of the many newbies in AT

you benefit of of you don't have to worry about what you're going to use your money on.
2 graphic cards = extra speed

:confused::confused::confused::confused::confused:

yeah but in relation with monitor..
does 2 cards and 2 montiors do better than 2 cards and 1 monitor?

beside the obious of having 2 LCD vs 1 is a WINNER but in performance or visual or other factor.. will I be utlizing the 2 cards with 2 montiors or not really...

to be honest, im probably not saying the question right nor do I know how to put it right for the lack of better words; I believe.

two monitors give you extra work space, visual quality is the same wether you have one or two cards as long as it has two DVI outputs.
some games support multiple monitors, but AFIAK most only use one while gaming. You will always be able to get extra speed while using two cards in SLI, wether it's worth the cost (same goes for dual monitors) only you can answer. It really depends on what you're going to use your computer for, and what you expect it to do.

dual core, sli and dual monitors will benifit you if you plan on playing two games at once :p

ummm seriously it just depend on what plan on doing with your pc. dont build a pc and then ask yourself "is this what I need?"; instead build the computer around your needs.

tell us what you want to do and we will tell you if
amd 64 X2 4400
2x eVGA 7800GTX KO
2x Dell 2005
is what you need.

thx for the reply, that narrows my decision..

forget dual cards since I dont need it than.
now in decision between dual 2005 or single 2405.

dual monitor is beneficial for me, video editing.
so getting dual vid card is pointless than, thought it would be benficial or beter to have dual cards for dual monitors. but if one is suffice.. no need.

oh: video editing, rendering, encoding, gaming too.

Tell us what you want to do with your PC

Even if I am ultra rich I won't throw away money for buying stuff I don't need
Save some money for future upgrades

currently the rig seems to be this:

DFI lanparty (will OC 4-6 months later after stock)
amd 62 X2 4400+
currently with stock HSF since im not OC yet
2x1gig OCZ or Crosair Ram.. link please for perferred ram.. I'd perfer above quality please, not VALUE...
eVGA 7800 GTX KO
P180 Case
2xDell 2005
600W PSU
400-500 gig HDD
onboard sound or $50 on a soundcard..
15 buck keyboard..
diamondback razer mice ($50)

thats all i believe.

im still deciding dual 2005 or 2405....

as i said before.
video editing, rendering, encoding, decoding, Pshopping, gaming.

Why no value RAM? The only difference is that they run at lower latencies and don't overclock as well. The integrated memory controller on the Athlon 64 makes up for that though, so the performance increase between value and expensive RAM won't be much at all. As long as you buy RAM from a good manufacturer and it has a lifetime warrenty, it's fine...

OCZ Gold VX garantees DDR500 at 2-2-2-5 timings. But requires 3.2 V voltage which only DFI LanParty Board can supply. But ain't a problem since you have that board

The DFI Value VX (now is named different but forgot) is twice as cheap which can run 2-2-2-5 timing with about 3.2V voltage. Won't garantee to hit DDR500 though
But memeory frequency is no way having as much impact as memory timing on AMD

probably going to take the l33t newb advice and stick with Value Ram from OCZ than if that is the case.

my rig as of now will change since I dont intend to purchase until November perhaps Dec if there is a price drop on things.
I still wanna see what the 520 will do and any other gimmicks (non computer related) that will catch my attention.
